Default Chelsea in big trouble    Show Printable Version  Print   Email this Page  Email

Chelsea have been banned from signing any new players until January 2011 by football's governing body Fifa.

The punishment was meted out after the Premier League club was found guilty of inducing French winger Gael Kakuta to break his contract with Lens in 2007.

"Chelsea are banned from registering any new players, either nationally or internationally, for the two next registration periods," said Fifa.

Chelsea can appeal against the decision to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Fifa's dispute resolution chamber (DRC) ruled Kakuta, now 18, must also pay compensation of 780,000 euros (£682,000), for which Chelsea are "jointly and severally liable".

Yup, although I can't say I feel sympathy for chelsea. That is how they got Ashley Cole from Arsenal, by meeting him in a hotel room, eventhough they didn't have permission from Arsenal to speak to the player. Also, they want 17 mil from Mutu(Fiorentina player). So may be they earned this ban.

There are also reports that Man Utd is their next target. Roma was banned sometime ago for 2 yrs as well, and after appeal, it was reduced to 1 year. Chelsea might get same. To make matters worse, Michael Ballack might retire in 2010 after the world cup.

It was this same UEFA(Platini to be precise) who outrightly declared last season that video technology will not be implented in football. Fast forward to 2009, and that is what they used in Eduardo's case. When is the next election? They all have to be voted out.

Despite the ban Chelsea still have prooved they can maintain their powerful position in the EPL and CPL. Carling Cup is just a piece of metal awaiting storage in their archives!
