Default Did Jesus commit suicide?    Show Printable Version  Print   Email this Page  Email

Do you think we need to classify Jesus's death as suicide by authority?Quick example to why I come to this conclusion,If I were to point my 9Mil pistol to police officers and they informed me that If I did not put down the weapon that I would be shot.If I understand th consequences and yet did not disarm and was shot.Am I committing suicide by authority?Remember suicide is forbiden by God.

The name for that example is 'suicide by cop' or something of the sort. I don't think Jesus committed suicide since God had said he will die for our sins. Remember he was nailed on the cross.

That is a typical Islamic mantra.

True Christianity is like the the hidden treasure in the expansive garden fields which when a man hath found, he hideth, and for joy thereof goeth and selleth all that he hath, and buyeth the field(Matt:13:44). It is for this reason that we are told to till (love the Lord thy God) with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind(Matt:22:37).

We simply have to use our energies (mental, spiritual, physical) in seeking God. And when we do so, more spiritually beneficial truth is revealed to us just like the search for hidden treasure in the fields helps the searching persons reap enormous benefits.

Only the Lazy sit back and say that Fellowship with Christ is difficult to understand.

jesus had to piss off people and step on a few toes so that he can get himself killed. he didn't go around saying he's the messiah and blah blah, people would have ignored him and gone on with their business like he didn't exist.

Hmm...I don't remember reading any of that in the Bible. It was God's prophecy that Christ will be betrayed by Judas and He will die for our sins. The Pharisees and Saducees(sp?) mocked Jesus. He was also mocked while nailed to the cross when the people asked where His God was and why He wasn't rescued from death?

As Jesus and his disciples went about teaching the Word, He instructed the disciples to dust off their feet at the door when they left a household where the people did not heed to the Word. So people did in fact ignore Him and by so doing ignored the word of God.

This is what I remember from my old testament readings.

I don't think it's suicide since in a suicide, you kill yourself. Jesus didn't kill himself, so that doesn't count.

Billions of years ago, Jesus and god planned that on that day, Jesus would be crucified for man's sins. Everything went according to their perfect plan. So if there is a word for planning your death then having someone do it for you (killing you), then that's what Jesus did.
