Yes, please don't kill anyone or threaten a fatwa because you're cranky due to hunger. Peace!

Default Ramadhan Kareem.. - 09-01-2008, 12:52 AM

Now that Ramadan has officially begun, we must make the most of it and take that extra time of committing to it. Put your full trust in Allah. May He accept our efforts and Ibadah. Here are list of some of the things you can do during the Holy month of Ramadhan

1.Repent, ask for forgiveness from Allah
2.Commit to the pillars of Islam (i.e. pray, fast, give to charity etc… on a regular basis)
3.Wake up in the early morning everyday for Suhur and Fajr prayers
4.Pray on time
5.Recite a chapter (21-22 pages in length) of the Holy Qur’an at least once a day for 30 days.
6.Make immense dua’as and try to memorize them throughout the day
7.Make Dhikr, mention of Allah’s names throughout the day
8.Memorize the 99 names of Allah
9.Give or do acts of charity (Zakat-ul-Fitr). Donate as much as possible, be it big or a small amount; Allah is aware of your niyyah (intentions)
10.Volunteer to clean a Masjid (i.e. vaccum, mop the floor, purchase something that the Masjid may need). There is nothing greater than knowing the resources that you brought into the Masjid has benefited someone in need of it.
11.Let us try to get together, pool our efforts and resources to feed the less fortunate
12.Donate an Islamic book to a local library or Masjid
13.Donate a translated Qur’an to a non-Muslim
14.Read Islamic (hadith) books
15.Attend Taraweeh prayers held at the Masjid as often as possible
16.Pray Tahajjud (night prayers) in seclusion in front of the Almighty as often as possible.
17.Commit to the last ten nights of Ramadhan
18.Attend the Masjid on a daily basis if possible
19.Be kind, sincere and giving to others
20.Cook, prepare a meal or fund for a meal and share it with your family and your Muslim brethrens alike
21.Invite your friends over for Iftaar
22.Abstain yourself from committing everyday sins (gossiping, music, TV, lying, swearing)
23.Abstain yourself from committing anything that’s deemed non-Islamic
24.Gain a lot of Barakah by having Islamic gatherings for Iftaar
25.Spend as much quality time as possible with your family. That’s what Ramadhan is about.
26.Invite a non-Muslim neighbour or friend over for the break of fast
27.Give dawah or sincere advice to a loved one, a friend, co-worker, non-Muslims about what this Holy month means to us Muslims
28.Encourage our children to fast, spend quality time as to teach them the Islamic ethics of sayim (fasting). Recite the Qur’an with the.
29.Visit a sick person or spend the day with an elderly.
30.Mend your relations with others; forgive them and ask for forgiveness as well

Ramdhan Kareem!!! to all the muslims on mashada and their families...

Default Remember Jesus this Ramadhan - 09-02-2008, 01:56 AM

Remember Jesus Christ Hope of Glory during this Ramadhan.
The Prophet before the Prophet.
The Saviour.

Research conducted by a few of us at Mombasa's Mejngo few years ago revealed that Muslims eat almost thrice the amount of food at Ramadan compared to the normal days.

I think no Muslim really fasts during Ramadan.
