@ ATLian, not all protestants practice confirmation, infact, as far as I know, its only the Traditional Lutherans and the Anglicans who practice confirmation.

@ Jasakwa, Atlian semad he took communion after getting confirmed, so no broken rules there.

@ Jasakwa & Grip, when Paul says "He who eats and drinks in an unworthy manner, eats and drinks condemnation upon himself" (paraphrased), does that only relate to being in a state of sin?

To everyone: sacrament is not synonymous with Eucharist/communion

point noted crystal clear

Default holy communion - 06-17-2008, 12:30 AM

No it doesn't because Paul was speaking about a specific behavior he had observed among the believers in corinth. You see in those days the communion used to be served in form of real big bread probably chapati size, and the wine used to be given in full cups. Some people chose to take advantage of this and were not eating in their houses instead they were coming to church just to eat the bread and enjoy the wine. This irritated paul because the trend altered the whole meaning and essence of the holy communion which was done purposely to remember the sacrifice that Jesus made to all mankind.

Jasakwa, I find that hard to believe. Perhaps a scholarly citation would convince me. If that were the case, then Christians are bound to have communion only with certain elements. For instance, Catholics use the wafer and the laity don't partake wine, the Orthodox church uses leavened bread soaked in wine, other churches use grape juice instead, so they may all be doing it unworthily.
