Lets use Kenya as an example, where maybe 99% of the population is (supposedly) straight. If your statement above was the case, seeing that most gay Kenyans have spent their entire lives hanging around straight Kenyans, why haven't those gays been converted into straights?

I know there's no way I can switch from drooling at women to drooling at men. I know there's no way I'll ever find the idea of kissing another man exciting. But I also do know that if everywhere on TV, in the parks, etc, there were always gay men kissing each other, after a while I'd become more accustomed and tolerant to it.

I think this has more to do with a society's tolerence level. In the Kenyan society, gayism is not acceptable.

This statement supports the statement made by the person you are trying to offer a rebuttal to. So from what you have said above, she is correct to assume that gayism can come about by hanging around gays; it could be in the form of being bombarded with gayism on TV, internent, in the streets, etc.
