Default Do you approve Cloning? - 05-22-2008, 05:41 AM

Cloning of animals is legal in many countries.Cloning of humans is Illegal but not in eastern europe where such laws don't even exist.

In my personal opinion i think such laws need to be put in place, even cloning of animals is a risky game that need careful monitoring by the authorities.Crooked scientists might plunge humanity into a biological disaster.

Please explain how cloning by "Crooked scientists might plunge humanity into a biological disaster".

Religion aside, what's your issue with cloning?

The one that i have issues with when it comes to cloning is the idea of getting "designer babies". Wanting your child to look a certain way, to be excellent in a certain field, yaani even before the baby is born their whole life is already predetermined.

What would happen if after spending so much money in your quest for perfection you don't get what you paid for? Should a return policy be implemented?

Remeber last year some scientists cloned a glittering cat, they inserted genetic material responsible for shinning effects in some fish specie on the cat embryonic cells.

A crooked scientist obsessed to bring back the monster creatures of the old might for example combine the characters of a poisonous fiery snake with that of a powerful bird like an eagle of falcon and make snake birds or worst some lunatic might clone army worms that fly and this might ravage acres of farms and starve man to death.

If you carefully think of it,cloning can be likened to the discovery of nuclear technoloy. It is potentially dangerous to man and the globe as a whole.

Cloning of animals as i explained earlier can end in wrong hands and be used as weapons. You can imagine the agony of flying snakes and scorpions,a horse that can give electric shock, modified bees and wasps that can camouflage themselves like a cameleon.Cloning is slowly encouraging scientists to criss cross the genes of species. They cloned a shining cat by inserting genes from a glowing fish.

Cloning of humans can plunge the global security into a crisis as identity will become a problem. For example if we had two atlians how will we identify you?The race for designer babies will commercialise the dignity of human beings.

ooooh! well i think collateral damage is a risk in every business; in this case, a risk not weighy enough to tip the scale that favors the benefits of cloning

Polite correction: cloning means creating an exact genetic replica of a parent, asexually. What you describe above amounts to broader genetic modification, infusion, etc. These are two different issues, so we should take care not to cause confusion.

One interesting fact about cloning is that since the child is a snapshot of the parent, the "newborn" automatically inherits the parent's age!!! Say you get a cell from a 50-year old woman, you create a clone child based on that cell ... the 10 year old child will have the "genetic computer program" of a 60 year old. By the time she's 15, she's ageing??? I'm just wondering???
