Default The Delayed Second Coming - 05-18-2008, 12:31 PM

What reasoning can justly be given to the delay of the second coming of Christ?

I dont buy the grace period thing at all because I was born recently, and now as you read this, a baby has been born too.

It's a delay only if he didn't come when you expected him to.

He has been expected to come back since the apostlic times. The wordings of Revelation reveal the eminence with which He was expected.

we may call it delay, but that is our human way of looking at it. The Bible tells us that to God, one day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like a day.

This throws us off balance as far as Divine maths run. The reasons for the "delay" can therefore be matters of speculation. The important thing, I believe, is to be ready in and out of season.

He will come when the very last person predestinated before the foundation of the world enters into the fold. Until that one sheep that's lost somewhere in the wilderness hears His master's voice, and hearkens to it. Meanwhile, we have been commanded to go out into the world and spread the gospel.

There will never be a last person who will be given chance to be redeemed. As long as He is still delaying, people are still being born so unless you prove that at one time birth will cease, and the last person to be born will be given time to accept Jesus is when He comes, the theory of grace period is inconsistent with reality.

How is that tied to delay?

Our unknown death time should account for all time readiness and not the second coming time. Imagine the disciples were told to watch, the disciples told their audiences to watch, all through the ages people have been watching, and all these have died.

So I think His delay (not having come according to what we perceive from Him), should be explained based on a different premise.
