Default How much does God influence who you have as a mate? - 04-23-2008, 01:47 AM

I read a book by Myles Munroe called "dating" and it got me thinking about me praying for "the one whom you would want for me".

Does anyone here believe God match-makes?

They say that a good wife/husband comes from God and that He had planned it for u even before u were born!!!!!!!
Why did He have to choose for u a nagging wife and why shud i be given a liar for a husband? It is because He knew that u can handle it.
He planned everything for us as in He knew what wud happen in our lives even b4 we existed, why do we end up in divorces which the Biblia say it's a sin.It means that God already knew that it was going to happen,He had planned for it to happen.Does that mean that God plans our sins?
I'm so
But according to the book, God has a great influence on who we have as our mates.

You see things as they are and ask "Why?" But I dream things that never were; and say, "Why Not?"

i believe God does choose for you that one person in life.ubaya you have to go through the 'wrong' lot and at times get your heartbroken ndio umpate. but all in all, what dont break you can only make you stronger. such that by the time God finally brings 'the one' you are strong enough to fight for your love. peni zangu tu.

Default God's foreknowledge verses plans, and choices - 04-23-2008, 08:37 AM

God's plans for His creation are plans for good and not for evil. He explicitly says this in Jeremiah, and at no time does He wish that humanity should experience hardship or complains.

The happenings that seem to negate this concept are explained by the free choice and rationality ability given man. Man has a duty to fathom, deduce, and analyse situations, property and beings in order to form preferences in accordance to God's ordained guidelines.

When through free will you have decided to forfeit God's guidelines, you dont point fingers to Him that He planned for you a failure. Though this is what we always do, it is not the truth. But God knew what choices you will make.

You surely took a closer look at that cover in order to judge that book; that's what covers are meant for anyway!

If God choses for me, then doesnt that invalidate my free will to chose??

To add to that, does it therefore mean that God will be lying to us that some are evil whereas others are righteous, yet He made them choose to do those evil or righteous deeds as they did?

lets just say God works behind the scenes for you. He'll allow you to make choices which you as a human being think are good for you. i mean we dont usually run into the right person at the first try.

He lets you make your choices and gives you the wisdom to discern what is good and what is wrong cos he knows you better.. He knows how you work. he's like the manufacturer who put the pieces of the pproduct together from scratch.

He does not command that this is he/she or that you have to take this one/that one. He chooses for people who are willing to let Him.
In life sometimes you can do things out of your own accord but it fikas a time when you have made so many errors in your judgement that you are convinced only He can make the right choice for you.

You have a free will but he guides you to what is good for you.
Yeah, i think God influences who you have

Yeah, i think God influences who you have

Yeah God influences who you have by issuing guidance as to what is good. He gave the descriptions of what is good which descriptions are well expounded in the bible, which as a man with a mind, reason, understanding and wisdom ought to read and follow.

Expecting God to offer direct influence negates the purpose why He enabled the preservation of those biblical books, other spiritual counselling materials, and rational mind.

If anyone refuses to follow God's ways as an individual, then you end up with someone who is not compatible, dont drag God into the scene of your blind choice claiming that it is God who chose or influenced you.
