Now there is a school of thought that argue in favor of rehabilitation as opposed to punishment such as serving jail term,death sentence etc.

It is also on record that the US abolished capital punishment in pre-80s but then allowed some states to reinstate it because of surge in criminal activities.

Which one would you vote for if you had the chance to?

i say punishment. rehab only if their mental stability is in question.
plus i don't think rehab provides justice (OR vengeance for that matter).
and come to think of it, isnt punishment SUPPOSED to function as a form of rehab as well?

did the subsequent reinstatement of capital punishment cause the crime rates to drop?
i'd vote for rehab, lakini with exceptions.
jail time just creates hardcore criminals, even worse than before.

al-zal....most criminals are very sane. the only problem is that they got caught.
rehab is self help for those who do damage to themselves. those who do damage to others especially by breaking the law must be punished.

Jail term only creates hard core criminals because it si designed that way. If it were designed differently, upright men would be coming out of jail.
