The weakening of the Christian faith is just part of the overall weakening of all religious faiths around the world. The main cause of this is the rising standard of living. People are pursuing various careers, achieving goals (wealth, scientific, social, politics), moving their families internationally ... it is possible to lead personally satisfactory lives. Religion has tended to appeal to man's fears, weaknesses and desperations but: -
* medicine, public health, meteorology, education, technology - all these things have made the world more predictable and stable.
We still have to deal with: AIDS, earthquakes, tsunamis, global warming, economic downturns, political violence, but hey, things are somewhat under control. Even in North Africa, Middle East, Asia, expect lower figures at religious institutions.
If Kenya ever gets balkanised - especially with this Central Province vs The Rest problem, that may be an opportunity for forces at Coast and North Eastern to push a religious state agenda.
