The reason why i say the new heaven and new earth is the old ones refurbished is because the scriptures tells us in many times that the earth shall endure forever.
Let's now consider the final Scriptures on the new heavens and the new earth contained in the Bible book of Revelation, chapters 21 and 22. Chapter 21 opens by the Apostle John saying,
"And I saw a new heaven and a new earth; for the first heaven and the first earth passed away, and there is no longer any sea. Verse 5 says, "Behold I am making all things new", and He said "Write for these words are faithful and true".

The absence of the sea is obvious,the fervent heat and burning of elements will with no doubt evaporate the sea,the seismological activities will balance the sea-land topography.

I beg to differ.

There are a lot of rich people who are generous givers and philanthropists, who believe in God and are prepared to die. Let us not 'discriminate' against all rich people.

There are some atheists who live (technically) righteous lives, but I guess you have to believe in God and profess your faith in order to be saved. I don't really think though that all righteously living atheists will go outright to hell - God is merciful.
However, whoever said that "it's better to live like there's a God and die and find out there isn't one, than to live like there isn't a God and die and find out there is one", made an excellent point.

On the issue at hand, I don't think the earth as we know it will end and disappear from the solar system. Am yet to hear of a nuclear bomb that can destroy the whole earth, although I do know that some (and some natural phenomena like volcano eruptions) can destroy entire civilizations.
I think YOUR earth ends when YOU die and meet YOUR God.

Issues like global warming will be dealt with by living creatures as they come. Organisms will adapt and evolve to deal with it, and processes like natural selection and survival of the fittest will continue.

By the way, I believe in God and am a staunch christian, but am also a scientist.

Your argument is so full of holes, it can be attacked from everywhere. Question: Does the rich man believe he will die?? If he fears losing his wealth or dying - Why then does he have a written will?? Does that not mean he knows he will not go with his wealth?? So essentially, his richness has forced him to think and accept his eventual demise that will bring an end to his enjoyment of his wealth. Meaning he's probably more psychologically prepared for the end more than you average joe! Thats already weak argument, but should get you thinking.

Everything that has a beginning has an end, usually you must know the beginning to anticipate an end or the type of end, Are we to accept that your question is general, because there is an obvious difference, between "earth" and "world". How woud you define the 2??

Your responses so far, shows the limitations to which you hold the argument you put forth, you seem to believe that it must be within a christian context. what about those who believe earth is a living thing, and we live on earth on its auspices amongst other beliefs. Earth can destroy the world as you know it, but the world cannot destroy the earth. The house always wins. Thats the same argument used in the movie "The day after tomorrow". ( Thats just one example)

guys your all full of crap about the bible as its a war between two forces and we are part of the intergalactic community that is in space and our earth is hell and heaven thus if u die then you get to be reborn again if ur not unified wtih ur higher self thats pure otherwise i dont believe in ur rhetorics here but i wana challenge u guys who can dare have astral travel and know the facts about his or her past life then yap here as its quite evident that the Book of enoch is hidden by the church as they wana exploit u and me to the last bits, its time u woke out of ur shyt guys

Christianity does not exist, its a myth. Its a caucasean folklore. Its a story that we africans bought hook, line and sinker. Its something we wear when its suits us. Many quoting verses here are calling for extermination of people.
