Back to the original spirit of this thread

John and Mary, come together in matrimony become 1.

(because of an issue or 2 could be barreness, sickness, incompatible sex drives etc)

John and Mary=1 decide to come together in matrimony with Jill for a specific reason.

So now John, Mary and Jill are still 1 in matrimony Wheres the damn problem ?? So even bibilically speaking they are one in spirit et al

Mary knows who Jill is, Jill Knows who mary is and John is humping his brains out. Is there a possibility that our ancestors had it right the first time??

Wheres that damn time machine??

The bible does not concern itself with non-issues. The poly/monogamy issue is one such.

Remember that before governments were instituted, religios leaders determined the law. Monogamy is the law. It has nothing to do with christianity.

Christians tend to lose sight of real issues. Polygamy can be good or not so good, depending on various factors. So figure out for yourself which works for you.

Sasa wacheni niwaambie. i read about the issue of 1+1 = 1 this is true and only true if you are dealing with what is known as boolean algebra and ofcourse aljebra originated from the arabs ... (biggest polygamists in the world be it christian or muslim arabs ) and these boolean aljebra's varies with what is known as gates so depenting on which gate you are dealing with 1+0=1 (Nor gate)even 1+0=0 (AND). therefore depending on how you view things it can be true but on normal numerical arithmetics 1+1=2 and not 1+1=0 in a NOT gate aljebra.....By the way i am for polygamy ...But and Only if i would be able to treat this polywives EQUALLY...meaning if i buy one a house the other should have a similar house with similar setups... if i buy a kompressor for one wife i should be able to buy the same to the other....i rest my case

Billy Graham, the eminent Christian evangelist has this to say: "Christianity cannot compromise on the question of polygamy. If present-day Christianity cannot do so, it is to its own detriment. Islam has permitted polygamy as a solution to social ills and has allowed a certain degree of latitude to human nature but only within the strictly defined framework of the law. Christian countries make a great show of monogamy, but actually they practice polygamy. No one is unaware of the part mistresses play in Western society. In this respect Islam is a fundamentally honest religion, and permits a Muslim to marry a second wife if he must, but strictly forbids all clandestine amatory associations in order to safeguard the moral probity of the community." Abdul Rahman Doi, Woman in Shari'ah (London: Ta-Ha Publishers, 1994) p. 76.
