christianity was not even there while christ was on earth. the dominanat religion was Judaism....Christianity is a diversity from Judaism of those who believed Christ was the promised Messiah. those that did not still practised Judaism til to date (the Jewish religion).

Notice that everyone who preached about Jesus oppposed polygamy. from his Disciples to his followers.
