I think salvation is a personal decision. I do not think it is good to give a new believer so many rules, eti wacha kuona wrestling etc. If we do that, we become legalistic.
First things first. We get saved because we realize that we have all sinned (big and small sins - it does not matter). Then we realize that God still love us in our sinful nature to the extent that He gave His son Jesus to die for us. We then ask for forgiveness and ask God to be our Lord (be in control of our lives). Starting from that simple that step, we will start to grow in Christ and know more about spiritual things. Do not expect to get saved today and change everything overnight - no! It takes time and the working of the Holy Spirit to change us (outwardly - character, the things we do, the things we watch etc). We are all different and the things I might decide to do away might be different from what someone else will fell God leading him/her to do away with. The key here is that we develop a relationship with God and become sensitive to what He wants for us - that is the best place of completeness we can ever be!
I will be glad to respond to questions - I promise that I am still learning and do not know everything.
