Default Where is the soul located? - 08-20-2007, 02:31 PM

“Good” Christians believe in a living soul and when one dies, the soul goes to heaven. Other believes conscious life ceases until the time of a future resurrection. To me, there is no reference in the bible to a conscious, immortal soul going to heaven or hell or limbo when the body goes to the grave. If we possess soul; where is it located? Nobody has been able to give me a clear answer to that? I have no soul; this self-aware essence is all in the mind. To prove it, think of the following scenarios.
1. If the soul is located in heart what about those people with artificial hearts and still alive. Does that mean they loose a part of there soul
2. If soul is located in your limbs what about the people missing them. I have seen a case of an individual with no limbs and had an artificial heart.
3. If the soul is located in your brains, that means an individual who has gone through lobotomy is missing part of his/her soul.
4. Some of you might argue it is located everywhere; those people who donate there organs, do they leave part of there soul behind. Could a person have two souls?

Help me out here

Default Our reality is confined to what we see. - 08-21-2007, 02:31 AM

Its funny the way our realities are based on what we see, hear;basically what stimulates our senses.

I believe the soul exists in another sphere of reality, one apart from the physical. My proof? I have none except the the unanswered question of who am I.

This is interesting; taken from another thread. He speaks with conviction about the soul and yet has no idea where it is

Am touched that karl marx could also have convictions,BBB you scared the heck out of the guy.

To your questions,

1.where do 'souls' go when people die, do one retain the consiousness within the soul
According to jesus story in Luke 6,when a person dies, teh angels carry the soul to a place in the heavenly places awaiting judgement, and yes the soul retains some level of consciousness, you can remember the people you left but you cannot see or know what happens after you leave.

2.Suppose i go to heaven and discover my beloved aint there but in hell, can i really enjoy knowing very well beloved is languishing somewhere?

There is nothing you can do,truth will have finally hit you and you will remember the prophets, pastors, convictions they had but took for granted. It will be a time for accountability.

Soul cannot, if it in deed exists, be part of the three dimensions we experience with our senses therefore cannot be located within organs.

First question should be; do we have a soul/what is the essence of life?

Default The soul essence - 09-06-2007, 08:27 AM

I like thinking that the soul is this ephemereal substance that is a product of one's interactions with the environs. In such a system, the soul becomes a product of neccessity, rather than a tangible apriori occurence or presence. In essence, without an external world, there would be no internal world... a phenomena called existence in indifference.

True, Oscarwilde. Things that concern spirituality are far above scientific realms, or as you said they are not tangible but yet do exist. The mind is to the soul what the brain is to the body. Just the same way the brain manages bodily functions, the mind and soul work that other dimension that makes us who we are. Now- in the Bible it is written then man dies once then judgement. But some things that are still trying to sort out is that in Revelation there is this part where the Saints cry out to God from their graves something like, "How long, Oh God will this go on before you avange..." or something like that. Makes me wonder, does the soul "rest" with the body till judgement while aware of what's going on, or is time kinda paused at one's death, then restarted when Christ cries out when he returns? If the later is the case, it simply means that the dead won't be aware of what goes on while they're dead, but isntead when (yes WHEN) they rise will have no knowledge of the time lapse in between. What do those of you who are theologically inclined think of this?

Dynamic.

a soul is not an organ, or a tissue, or a cell, or a gene or anything you can look at with a microscope - its not tangible...its in your being.
