Default Nostradamus controversy - 09-05-2007, 01:37 PM

Alright, family- let's slap some light on Nostradamus, and compare his prophecies to Biblical prophesies. I'll warn you now, this is kinda long, so only read it if you have the interest and the time to. I trust, however, that it'll hold your interest, as well as other threads to come.

I'm sure most of you have heard of Nostradamus, and perhaps the American "foreteller," Edgar Casey. Nostradamus have been credited for having had the abilities to forsee the future, and some... well, very few, of his interprations are clamined to have come to pass, and so did Edgar Casey. Well, after researching these guys, I'm sorry to burst y'alls bubbles, but they were just wizards, who used common sourcery to fortel the future.

Consider the following, y'all.

Here's an "prophesy" Nostradamus made;

"In the third month, the sun rising, the boar and the leopard meet int he battlefield. The fatigued leopard looks up to theheavens and sees and eagle playing with the sun..."

A well known reviewer called John Hoague made this interpretation of Nostradamu's prophecy, and tried hard to link it to the passing of Alexander's the Great's influence. Hoague says this;

-"The 3rd month (June 1815), the sun rising... the boar (supposedly supposed to refer to Napoleon), and the Leopard (which Napoleon called the Heraldic Leopard was supposed to be England)."

Now- here are the errors in his interpretations.
a) The 3rd months is supposed to be March, not June.
b) Hoague reffered to Allexander the great as the boar, when infact, Allexander's standard was the Eagle
c) To make Nostradamus' prophecy to fit, he changes the Leopard into a Lion which was England's standard.
d) Then the Eagle he mentioned could have been anyone. There were four countries using the Eagle as their standard, such as Poland, Iraq, Germany, and the US.

Contrary to Nostradamus' prophecies which are threaded with falacies, the bible's prophecies have been clear and direct, naming names and refering to places. I'll get to that in a little bit.

In another of Nostradamus' prophecies supposedly fortelling Hitler, he says, "Beasts, wild with hunger, will cross the rivers, the greater part of the battlefield will be against Hister..." (Source: Prophecies of Nostradamus by Erikah Cheetham, pg82)
a) Could it be that he missed Hitler's name by one letter (Hister)? Then think of this; Hister is derived from the latin word Ister, the original name of the River Danube.
b)Like Alexander's prophecies, this was forced to parallel history's events
c)At the begining of John Hoague's book, he begins by saying this, "I can dismiss 95% of nostradamus' predictions as hostorical coincidences..." (pg 14) Didn't he just shoot himself in the foot?

Now- one more thing about Nostradamus, he was just another witch. The method he used to prophecy was by using a method called scrying. This is a common technique in withcraft, defined as "concetrating on a shiny object until fision appears... practiced by magicians and withcrafts from ages past." (source: Witchraft today by James R. Lewis, pg 264) One could use the popular shinny ball, black paint, or even blood. Nostradamus used a bowl of water.

History then has it that Nostradamus warned his son about the very practice of witchcraft that he himself was practicing. He told his infant son, "Never to dable in such practices for they desecrate the body, disturb the mind, and send the soul to perdition" (Source: Nostradamus Encyclopedia, pg 64) So for those of you who might be into spiritualism (of wish we'll expose in later threads), you heard it from Nostradamus himself.

The Bible, on the other hand, has over 300 prophecies concering historical events of the world, the Christ, and events that are yet to happed. If scrutinized carefully, all have come to pass, except a few. This makes one wonder, if all the prophecies spoken of in the bible have come to pass, then isn't it most likely that those which are yet to happen will happen? Let's take Nebuchadnezar's dream interprated by Daniel (Check out Daniel Ch. 2).

1. The head of Gold = Babylon (Dan 2:31-34). This was the very kingdom that Nebuchadnezar was rulling at that time. After his dream, he was humbled by God (he was given the heart of a beast for 7 years, then restored to his kingdom, then he followed God). His son, Belshazar, whom took over after Nebu' is the one who saw the writtings on the wall because he had desecrated God's temple after capturing them in Jerusalem. So in punishment, God smote him, and his kindom was divided among the Meads & Persians.

2. Chest & two arms of Silver = Meado Persia. Meadopersian empiror was run by Cirrus the Great, whom over threw Babylon in 539BC. Funny- but God even spoke of Cirrus when he said, "Cirrus. He is my shephard, and shall perform all my pleasure..." (Isaiah 44:25, 45:1). Cirrus was responsible for the return of the Jews to Jerusalem. His kindom lasted almost 200 years, till Allexander the great came in and removed him, ushering in the next prophecy of the "belly and thighs of brass."

3. Belly & thighs of Brass = Greece, Allexander the Great's Empiror. Alexander defeated the king of media and persia i.e. meadopersia (Cyrrus the Great). This was fortold by Daniel when he saw the vision of the Goat and the Ram (Dan 8:20, 21). The goat is Allexander ("...rough goat is the King of Greece,.." i.e, Allexander), while the ram with it's two horns was "the King ofmeado-persia..." i.e. by Cirrus. Allexander's sudden death is fortold in Dan 8:8 ("The goat became very great, but at the height of his power his large horn was broken off, and in its place four prominent horns grew up toward the four winds of heaven.") As history has it, after Allexander died of a fever in 323BC, his kingdom was split in 4 to his four generals; Cassander, Lyssimachus, Ptolemy, and Selencus.

4. Legs of Iron = Rome & her two splits Legend has it that Rome, which rose at the heels of Allexander's reign, was founded by Remus and Romulus. Rome was later divided into two powers when Pope Leo excommunicated Michale Cellatarious. This created a rift in the catholic church, which pretty much ran the roman empiror, splitting it into two extremes; The western end remained Roman catholic, while the eastern end (Byzantine empiror, not Turkey & her neighbours) became the Greek/Russian orthodoxy.

I could expound more, but I know y'all have better things to do, so I'll cut this here. As you can see, Biblical prophecies are precise and to the point, and not full of speculation as do Nostradamus' prophecy as well as those who came after him, such as Edgar Casey (I'll drp a thread here briefly on him later). This is one evidence that the Bible is true in it's word, unlike any other book in the world, not only religion. So y'all feast on this, drop comments etc... I'll try to answer or expound further to whatever question comments y'all have.

Dynamic,
It is good you have posted the above here. You had started a new thread for it and called it "Thoughts For the Skeptic: "Consider False Prophets: Nostradamus".

To avoid confusion or possibly people posting replies at both threads, you may wish to delete the above (Thoughts For the Skeptic: "Consider False Prophets: Nostradamus) so that we keep to one thread othjer than two threads with the same mission.
