Default Christians and Denominations.. - 08-01-2007, 08:07 AM

Does going to church every sunday or saturady assures us of entering the Kingdom of God??If I can be assured of this, I would go to church every sunday.But as a follower of Christ, this is how i know it( sorry I canīt quote verses from the Bible).If we pray to God in faith, our petitions will be answered.We can pray anywhere in faith.I also believe that Christians should serve the Lord with all their strength and with all their minds and kuna nyimbo kwa Kiswahili that goes" Kuenda kanisani kila Jumapili haimanishi kuingia Binguni...I believe in all these.I do pray in these ocassions;

1. When after my hardwork, I have got a reward, I say thanks to God.
2.When I come accross a difficult situation I kneel down and pray for the intervention of God..( I donīt shout while am praying, Infact, I get scared of people shouting while talking to my father, I believe God listens to you without necessarily opening your mouth to pray...)

Why do I believe in Prayers?? Because my petitions have never ever failed even though not all of them are made in a church.

In as much as we have the right to freedom of worship, I am not convinced that denomination that carry out their prayers loudly does better that the Anglicans or Catholics..God has always answered my Prayers in faith and calmness.

Quoting someone

"Does going to the garage every other weekend make you mechanic?" I think not. Infact all the mambo's of under my rides hood, I know coz of the number of times I have had to minor service my ride or got stuck somewhere nje in teh bundus.

Pippy, church si building - ni watu and fellowship with others, and if you dont feel them and them you, then, mungu ni wako, muabudu uwezavyo as long as unamuabudu, atakuinua na akubariki, as you have just witnessed, he never lets you down.

And your title Christians and denominations is quite appropriate for todays preachers. I'd say there are many denominations that are acceptable eg Dollar, Kwacha, Kenya Shilling, British Pound, Yen etc, it all depends on you locality, even Chicken and goats.

I can't think of anything significant that isn't being commercialised nowadays..

on a serious note, i believe denominations are different means to the same end.

Default denominations - 08-07-2007, 03:56 AM

Many people have leaned on denominations and forgoten their role as christians.You find that even at some funerals relatives clash over which denomination should conduct the service and this really adds the pain of bereavement to the family.

Thatīs true. Persoanlly, I have once clashed with a church congregation at a funeral. Heti they want to be the masters of ceremony during burials and even control strictly the burial time, This is nonsense to me..I think masters of ceremonies for example, can be appointed by the bereaved family or any other close family friend can volunteer but not like the church controls everything..this is rampant with anglicans

Actully, it is only made to appear as if they are all means to one end. Denominations are man's creations cuz everyone wants to define the gospel in a way that it fits their agendas. I believe Christians shouldn't even have denominations cuz that's just an obstacle that devides us along some silly lines. The Bible isn't that complicated. It was written so simply that any one can understand it. For instance, the Sabbath. The sabbath was supposed to fall on Saturday, not Sunday. It was changed to Sunday by Constantinople and the Catholic church having the massive influence during that time, made it law... and everyone conformed to it. That's another dividing line among denominations.

Another thing is money. Most of these preachers we see on TV and stuff are in it for the money, and some go to the extreme of misleading their parishioners with false interpretations of the gospel, or claiming to have direct communication with God Himself, or the theatrics of healing people by slapping their foreheads in CHrist's name. It is written that we should be ware of false prophets, those who come screaming "Lord- Lord!!" They are hypocretes and will all face their due judgement.

Church is simply a place we go to to fellowship with others like us cuz it's supposed to strengthen our faith. We are instead supposed to take the church with us, for it is also written that we are God's temples. You don't have to believe in some entity on TV as if he is God himself, or as if you are limited and cannot be heard by God when you pray. That's why when Christ said "It is finished!", the curtain at the temple that divided the most holy place from the rest of the temple was torn from the top down, symbolizing that anyone has access to God, through Christ our Lord. So even YOU can speak to God because it is a personal relationship, and He will hear you... whether you shout, or humbly whisper in your silence.
