Was Muhammad(P.B.U.H) really a prophet of Allah(God). -
01-22-2007, 12:23 AM
To start with There are many prophecies about Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H) in the revealed scriptures of old (Old and New Testaments, including those of the Zoroastrians and Hindus). The verses presented below give a small sample of references to Prophet Muhammad prophethood prophesised in different scriptures.
If you read the bible in Deuteronomy 18:18-19 God says to moses:
"I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him".
Now if you go back to the Quran one of numerous examples of '...and I will put my words into his mouth...' is given below from the Qur'an; the verses begin with the word 'Say':
"Say (O Muhammad): He Is Allah the One and Only;
Allah, the Eternal Absolute;
He Begetteth Not, Nor Is He Begotten:
And There Is None like unto Him.
(Qur'an 112:1-4)
The evidence for 'he shall speak in my name':
Every Surah (Chapter) of the Qur'an, except the ninth, begins with the words:
"In The Name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful."
Let`s leave at that as far as the bible is concerned.
We have other numerous evidence from the Quran itself that prove that Muhammad(P.B.U.H) was in deed a prophet. I will illustrate a few of those verses below.
There Never Was A People Without A Warner
Qur'an 35:24
Verily We have sent thee (Muhammad) in truth as a bearer of glad tidings and as a warner: and there never was a people without a warner having lived among them (in the past).
Qur'an 16:36
For We assuredly sent amongst every People an apostle (with the Command) "Serve Allah and eshew Evil": of the people were some whom Allah guided and some on whom Error became inevitably (established). So travel through the earth and see what was the end of those who denied (the Truth).
Allah's Covenant With Prophets
Qur'an 3:81-82
Behold! Allah took the covenant of the Prophets saying: "I give you a Book and Wisdom; then comes to you an Apostle confirming what is with you; do ye believe him and render him help." Allah said: "Do ye agree and take this My Covenant as binding on you?" They said: "We agree." He said: "Then bear witness and I am with you among the witnesses." If any turn back after this they are perverted transgressors.
No Distinction Between Prophets
Qur'an 3:84-85
Say (O Muhammad): "We believe in Allah and in what has been revealed to us and what was revealed to Abraham, Isma'il, Isaac, Jacob and the Tribes, and in (Books) given to Moses, Jesus and the Prophets from their Lord; we make no distinction between one and another among them and to Allah do we bow our will (in Islam)." If anyone desires a religion other than Islam (submission to Allah) never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost (all spiritual good).
A Mercy To The Worlds
Qur'an 21:107
And We did not send you (O Muhammad) except as a Mercy to the worlds.
No Compulsion In Religion
Qur'an 2:256
There is no compulsion in religion.
The right direction is henceforth distinct from error.
And he who rejecteth false deities and believeth in Allah hath grasped a firm handhold which will never break.
Allah is Hearer, Knower.
NOTE:
Allah: Allah is the proper name of the One True God, creator and sustainer of the universe, who does not have a partner or associate, and He did not beget nor was He begotten. The word Allah is used by the Arab Christians and Jews for The God (Eloh-im in Hebrew; 'Allaha' in Aramaic, the mother tongue of Jesus, pbuh). The word Allah does not have a plural or gender.
pbuh: Peace Be Upon Him. This expression is used for all Prophets of Allah. Abreviations derived from Arabic words are (s) and (as).

Have you heard of the expresssion, to shoot onself on the foot? You just did that.
If the Bible prophesised about me, and I happen to read it and then because I am a genius, I command some aides to write a book proving that I'm indeed the one the Bible prophesised about, don't you think I'm shooting myself on the foot?

@chotadipo
That is definately a mediocre thinking of the highest calibre and i can not bring my arguement down to that level.
What you claim is that muhammad(pbuh) was the author of the holy Quran. This an`t a surprise to me since you an`t the first person to claim the same. The non-believers even at the time of the prophet use to say the same but Allah almigty rebuted their claims and challenged the non-believers and infact the whole of humankind to come together and help each other in producing a book like the quran if they so thought that it was auothored by a humanbeing. To this date, that is, after over 1400 years NO ONE could succeed in this test.
The Quran has challenged all mankind with all their literary geniuses and scientists, from the first day of its revelation to the Last Day, to produce a like of it or even a single chapter of it
The Quran openly declares:
"You (O Muhammad) was not a reader of any Scripture before it, nor did you write (such a Scripture) with your right hand, for then those who follow falsehood might (have a right) to doubt it. (al-Ankabut, 29.48)"
It is an established, undeniable fact that the Prophet Muhammad, upon him be peace and blessings, was unlettered.
The Quran challenges in another chapter:
"If you are in doubt concerning that which We have sent down onto Our servant (Muhammad), then produce a chapter of the like thereof, and call your witnesses, supporters, who are apart from God, if you are truthful. (al-Baqara, 2.23)"
Mankind have since been unable to produce a like of only one of its chapters, including, of course, its shortest ones like sura al-Ikhlas or sura al-Kawthar; those who have ventured to do that have all laid themselves open to ridicule. This is a clear proof for the Divine authorship of the Quran.
The revelation of the Quran lasted 23 years. It is inconceivable that any book written by a mortal being in 23 years, one which is a book of Divine truths, metaphysics, religious beliefs and worship, prayer, law and morality, a book fully describing the other life, a book of psychology, sociology, epistemology, and history, and a book containing scientific facts and the principles of a happy life, does not have any contradictory points. Whereas, the Quran openly declares that it has no contradictions at all and therefore is a Divine Book.
The Quran says:
"Will they not then ponder on the Quran? If it had been from other than God they would have found therein much contradiction and incongruity. (al-Nisa, 4.82)".
The Quran is beyond compare from the viewpoint of its styles and eloquence. All the sentences, words and even letters used in the Quran form such a miraculous harmony that, with respect to rhythm, music, and even geometric proportions and mathematical measures, and with respect to how many times each is used in the whole of the Quran, each is in the exact place it must be and interwoven and interrelated with others. The literary masterpiece of no one, including the sayings of the Prophet himself, upon him be peace and blessings, cannot compete with the Quran.
In the period when the Quran was revealed, in addition to eloquence, poetry and oratory enjoyed great prestige in the Arabian peninsula. They used to hold poetry competitions and the poems of the winners wrote in gold and hang on the wall of the Kaba. The Prophet Muhammad was, as everybody knows, unlettered and no one had heard him say even a couple of poetry. However, the Quran also challenged the known experts in these fields and forced them to surrender. When those who persisted in unbelief heard the Quran, they were captivated by it. Nevertheless, in order to prevent the spread of Islam, they labeled it as something magical and advised people not to listen to it. But when those, like Hansa and Lebid, who believed in the Quran, gave up inventing poetry after the Qurans revelation in respect for and awe of its styles and eloquence, the unbelievers had to confess: If we call it a piece of poetry, it is not. If we designate it a piece of rhymed prose, it is not. If we describe it as the word of a soothsayer, it is not. At times, they could not help listening to the Prophets recitation secretly at night but they could not overcome their arrogance and so believe in its Divine origin.
Despite the high level poetry reached at that time, the vocabulary of Arabic was not as advanced as the same degree. It was difficult, even impossible, to express in it metaphysical ideas or scientific, religious and philosophical concepts. Restricted to the words and expressions to explain the thoughts and feelings of desert men and the simple life they led, this language became so rich through the Quran and attained such a high level that it developed as the language of the most magnificent civilization of world history with all its scientific, religious, metaphysical, literary, economic, juridical, social and political aspects. It is impossible for an unlettered one to prepare the ground for and give way to such a philological revolution unparalleled in human history
However beautiful and interesting, we can read a book at most two or three times and then are bored with it. However, no one has ever been heard to be bored with the recitation of the Quran. Hundreds of millions of Muslims recite portions from it in their five daily prayers and most of them recite it from beginning to end at least once a year. There have been hundreds of thousands of people reciting it from the beginning to the end once or twice or even three times a month. The more frequently one recites it, the more one benefits from it and the more desire one feels to recite it. One never gets tired of it, its wording, meaning and content, nor does the Quran lose anything of its originality and freshness. As time passes, it breathes into minds and souls new truths and meanings, thus increasing them in activity and liveliness.
However great a genius one may be, it is impossible for one to establish rules to solve all kinds of problems that mankind may encounter until the Last Day. Even the best of systems that do not originate in the Quran or the Divine Revelation cannot last without undergoing revisions at least every 50 years. More important than this, none of those systems can promise man eternal happiness; the principles of all of them are restricted to the worldly life, which is transient and infinitely short when compared to the afterlife. By contrast, none of the principles which the Quran laid down centuries ago has become outmoded and worn-out with the passage of time, nor do they have any defects or shortcomings. For example, the Quran enjoins that wealth should not become a means of prosperity circulated only among the rich (al-Hashr, 59.7); that government offices should be entrusted to competent persons qualified for them and absolute justice should be the rule in public administration and judging between people (al-Nisa, 4.58), and it lays down that a man has only that for which he makes effort (al-Najm, 53.39) and that whoever kills a human being unjustly is as if he had killed all mankind (al-Maida, 5.32). All such eternal, golden principles and many others like the prohibition of usury, gambling, alcohol and all kinds of illicit intercourse, and the injunctions with respect to praying, fasting, alms-giving and good conduct-principles strengthened through love and fear of God and through the promise of an eternal, happy life and fear of the eternal punishment of Hell-constitute another undeniable proof for the Divine authorship of the Quran.
Also, the Quran unveils the mystery of man, creation and the universe. These three creatures of God, that is, man, the Quran and the universe, are the three books which make the Creator known to us. They are the three versions or expressions of the same truth. Therefore, the One Who has created man and the universe is He Who has revealed the Quran.
You cannot find one who does exactly what he tells others to do or one whose work exactly reflects himself. However, the Quran is exactly identical with the Prophet Muhammad, upon him be peace and blessings, who received it from God and designed his life according to it. It may be said that the Quran is the embodiment of Muhammad in words or Muhammad is the embodiment of the Quran in belief and conduct. They are the two expressions of the same truth. When asked about the conduct of Muhammad, upon him be peace and blessings, Aisha Siddiqa answered: Dont you read the Quran? The conduct of Muhammad, upon him be peace and blessings, consisted in the Quran. This clearly shows that both the Quran and Muhammad, upon him be peace and blessings, are the works of God Almighty.
Which writer can claim that whatever he writes is absolutely correct and cannot be contradicted until the Last Day? At a time when the conclusions of science soon become outmoded and worn-out and even the previous Divine Scriptures such as the Torah and Gospels undergo continuous alterations-even a superficial study of the issues of the Bible published in different times and in different languages will be enough to see the great alterations it has undergone-the truths of the Quran retain their freshness or, in the words of Said Nursi, as time passes, the Quran grows ever younger. Despite all the efforts to find mistakes and contradictions in it exerted since the beginning of its revelation, it has remained unchanged and displayed its uniqueness, conquering every day new hearts and its hidden unlimited treasures being discovered one by one or growing to full bloom like a heavenly rose with countless petals.
I can keep on writing about this topic raised by chotadipo but i dont think time and space will allow me to do so. I hope the much i have mentioned above is enough prove that the Quran is not authored by muhammad(pbuh) hence muhammad as prophesised in different religious scriptures is a genuine prophet of God and of course the last and final messengerr to be sent to the whole of humanity.

Aways, I must say that you have in your very best effort attempted to link your prophet with the Old Testament or let me say the bible. May I first correct that notion. The verse is not talking about Mohammmed. It is instead talking about Jesus Christ. Deut 18:18 is one of the earliest of the many Messianic prophecies of the Old Testament
Deut 18:18, is a divine promise to Moses and was eventually fulfilled in Christ (see Acts 3:22,23). Christ was a greater prophet than Moses, is a greater priest than Aaron, and will be a greater king than David. He did indeed speak the words given Him by the Father. "As my Father hath taught me, I speak these things" (John 8:28). "For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, He gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak" (John 12:49).
From what you have posted regarding the verse it is easy to tell that you are only interested in picking specifics which you think supports your skewed religious belief. It is because of this that I am asking you to read verses prior to Deut 18:18 and then proceed thereafter. You will find out that prior to 18:18 the people asked God for a mediator because they were scared of his terrible majesty when they saw Mt Sinai tremble before God and the trumpets of heaven descended with a mighty symphony. Remember God was to meet with them on that day , the Jews had always bothered Moses about God and time had come for God to appear unto them as they had demanded, but when the hours came the sight of Jehovah's appearance sacred them and they asked Moses to tell God to speak to them through someone else, thus a prophet was promised. Materialization of 18:18 is to be found in the coming of Christ and not Mohammad.
As for the Koranics, we can only say that they cannot make any convenient evidence that Mohammad was a prophet ordained by God. In any case if ever the bible talked of Mohammad then it should be taken from he should be the one mentioned in Deut 18:20. We know this because first Mohammed's god created man from blood clot, quite a contrast with God's creations process in the bible don't you think Aways.

@teejay
You said the prophet mentioned in Deutoronomy 18:18 is Prophet jesus.I beg to differ with you in this.
Usually the Christians say that this prophecy refers to Jesus (pbuh) because Jesus (pbuh) was like Moses (pbuh). Moses (pbuh) was a Jew, as well as Jesus (pbuh) was a Jew. Moses (pbuh) was a Prophet and Jesus (pbuh) was also a Prophet.
If these two are the only criteria for this prophecy to be fulfilled, then all the Prophets of the Bible who came after
Moses (pbuh) such as Solomon, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea, Joel, Malachi, John the Baptist, etc. (pbut) will
fulfill this prophecy since all were Jews as well as prophets.
However, it is Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) who is like Moses (pbuh):
i)
Both had a father and a mother, while Jesus (pbuh) was born miraculously without any male intervention.
[Mathew 1:18 and Luke 1:35 and also Al-Qur'an 3:42-47]
ii)
Both were married and had children. Jesus (pbuh) according to the Bible did not marry nor had children.
iii)
Both died natural deaths. Jesus (pbuh) has been raised up alive. (4:157-158)
Muhammad (pbuh) is from among the brethren of Moses (pbuh). Arabs are brethren of Jews. Abraham (pbuh) had two sons: Ishmail and Isaac (pbut). The Arabs are the descendants of Ishmail (pbuh) and the Jews are the descendants of Isaac (pbuh).
Words in the mouth:
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was unlettered and whatever revelations he received from Almighty God he repeated them verbatim.
"I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him."
[Deuteronomy 18:18]
iv)
Both besides being Prophets were also kings i.e. they could inflict capital punishment. Jesus (pbuh) said, "My kingdom is not of this world." (John 18:36).
v)
Both were accepted as Prophets by their people in their lifetime but Jesus (pbuh) was rejected by his
people. John chapter 1 verse 11 states, "He came unto his own, but his own received him not."
iv)
Both brought new laws and new regulations for their people. Jesus (pbuh) according to the Bible did not bring any new laws. (Mathew 5:17-18).
It is Mentioned in the book of Deuteronomy chapter 18:19
"And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not harken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him."
Muhammad (pbuh) is prophesised in the book of Isaiah:
It is mentioned in the book of Isaiah chapter 29 verse 12:
"And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned."
When Archangel Gabrail commanded Muhammad (pbuh) by saying Iqra - "Read", he replied, "I am not learned".
prophet Muhammad (pbuh) mentioned by name in the old testament:
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is mentioned by name in the Song of Solomon chapter 5 verse 16:
"Hikko Mamittakim we kullo Muhammadim Zehdoodeh wa Zehraee Bayna Jerusalem."
"His mouth is most sweet: yea, he is altogether lovely. This is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters
of Jerusalem."
In the Hebrew language "im" is added for respect. Similarely "im" is added after the name of Prophet Muhammad
(pbuh) to make it Muhammadim. In English translation they have even translated the name of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as "altogether lovely", but in the Old Testament in Hebrew, the name of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is yet present.
Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in the New Testament:
Al-Qur'an Chapter 61 Verse 6:
"And remember, Jesus, the son of Mary, said, 'O Children of Israel! I am the messenger of Allah (sent) to you, confirming the Law (which came) before me and giving glad tidings of a messenger to come after me, whose name shall be Ahmed.' But when he came to them with clear signs, they said, 'This is evident sorcery!' "
All the prophecies mentioned in the Old Testament regarding Muhammad (pbuh) besides applying to the Jews also hold good for the Christians.
1.
John chapter 14 verse 16:
"And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever."
2.
Gospel of John chapter 15 verse 26:
"But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which
proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me."
3.
Gospel of John chapter 16 verse 7:
"Nevertheless I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not
come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you".
"Ahmed" or "Muhammad" meaning "the one who praises" or "the praised one" is almost the translation of the
Greek word Periclytos. In the Gospel of John 14:16, 15:26, and 16:7. The word 'Comforter' is used in the English translation for the Greek word Paracletos which means advocate or a kind friend rather than a comforter.
Paracletos is the warped reading for Periclytos. Jesus (pbuh) actually prophesised Ahmed by name. Even the
Greek word Paraclete refers to the Prophet (pbuh) who is a mercy for all creatures.
Some Christians say that the Comforter mentioned in these prophecies refers to the Holy Sprit. They fail to realise
that the prophecy clearly says that only if Jesus (pbuh) departs will the Comforter come. The Bible states that the
Holy Spirit was already present on earth before and during the time of Jesus (pbuh), in the womb of Elizabeth, and again when Jesus (pbuh) was being baptised, etc. Hence this prophecy refers to none other than Prophet
Muhammad (pbuh).
4.
Gospel of John chapter 16 verse 12-14:
"I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth is
come, he will guide you unto all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me".
The Sprit of Truth, spoken about in this prophecy referes to none other than Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)

Aways,
just like I can't use a Spiderman comic as my only evidence that Spiderman exists, you cannot use the Koran as your only evidence that Mohammed was really god's prophet. The whole thing just ends up being a cyclical argument i.e.
How do you know god exists?
Because the Bible said so and the Bible is true.
How do you know the Bible is true?
Because god said so.
> Mankind have since been unable to produce a like of only one
>of its chapters, including, of course, its shortest ones like
>sura al-Ikhlas or sura al-Kawthar;
I don't understand what you mean when you say that no-one has ever been able to produce a book like the Koran.
I just did a quick google search regarding the 2 shortest suras you mention above.
I just learnt that Sura al-Kawthar is Chapter 108, the chapter dealing with abundance (al-Kawthar means abundance). The below is the entire text of Sura 108:
108: Abundance
108:1 Lo! We have given thee Abundance;
108:2 So pray unto thy Lord, and sacrifice.
108:3 Lo! it is thy insulter (and not thou) who is without posterity.
Sura al-Ikhlas is Chapter 112, which deals with the fact that there is only one god. Again, the entire chapter reads:
112: The Unity
112:1 Say: He is Allah, the One!
112:2 Allah, the eternally Besought of all!
112:3 He begetteth not nor was begotten.
112:4 And there is none comparable unto Him.
Back to your point. I may have totally misunderstood you, but what do you mean when you say that it's impossible for such words (as pasted above) to have come from a mortal human being? What do you mean that since the Koran was written, it has been proven impossible for any man to replicate such writings? Are you freaking kidding me? Do you actually believe that?
>It is an established, undeniable fact that the Prophet
>Muhammad, upon him be peace and blessings, was unlettered.
>The revelation of the Quran lasted 23 years.
You say that the Koran couldn't have been written by Mohammed since he was illiterate (unlettered). Then you write that it took him 23 years to write the Koran. Hello! In 23 years, I went from being an illiterate 1 minute old baby to getting my first college degree. I'm sure most of us in Mashada have or are about to get their first degrees, and I'm sure most did it or will do it by 23 years old. Meaning that Mohammed, who started writing the Koran at a mature age, could easily have learnt how to read and write, and still have 20 years to finish it. Heck, Shakespeare wrote his 40 plays and 160 sonnets in about the same time. My point is you have a weak point above.

Come on man. Ati no-one has ever been heard to be bored reciting the Koran. Let's be real. Are you saying that you can read those Suras I pasted above for the next 3 years, reciting them over and over, and not get bored. Sheesh! Also consider the fact that stating you're bored of reciting the Koran would leave you stoned to death in many places.

@ATlian
You have absolutely misundertood me mr. When i say NO ONE has been able to produce a like of the Quran. No ONE,and i stand by argument,NO ONE has been able to produce a like of it. When i say that i mean the Original Arabic text. The quran
was revealed in arabic language and not in english. there is a great disparity between the translation of the quran and the original arabic text of the quran. With its styles and high eloquency no one can do justice to the quran with respect to its translation. So one one has been able to come up with a book like the quran in arabic. And this challlenge will remain to a thorn in the eye of non believer.
>You say that the Koran couldn't have been written by Mohammed since >he was illiterate (unlettered). Then you write that it took him 23 >years to write the Koran. Hello! Do not misquote me my dear. I have never said muhammad(pbuh) wrote the quran in 23 years but i said that the quran was REVEALED to prophet muhammad(pbuh) over a period of 23 years. In other words the quran was revealed in peacemeal. And my question was, if the quran was written by muhammmad(pbuh),as the skeptics claim, how could a book written by a mortal being, that too unlettered, over a span of 23 years be without any errors and contradictions?
The Quran says:
"Will they not then ponder on the Quran? If it had been from other than God they would have found therein much contradiction and incongruity. (al-Nisa, 4.82)".

Honestly speaking i have been reading those verses you did paste there from the time i was 7 years old and i have NEVER been bored by it. If anything the more i read them the more i got enlightened.
If one is free from prejudice one can not deny the divinity of the Quran and genuiness of prphet muhammad(pbuh) as the last and final messenger of God.

RE: Was Muhammad(P.B.U.H) really a prophet of Allah(God). -
01-25-2007, 09:47 AM
Aways, all my gratitudes are order with regards to your response.
>You said the prophet mentioned in Deutoronomy 18:18 is Prophet
>jesus.I beg to differ with you in this.
>Usually the Christians say that this prophecy refers to Jesus
>(pbuh) because Jesus (pbuh) was like Moses (pbuh). Moses
>(pbuh) was a Jew, as well as Jesus (pbuh) was a Jew. Moses
>(pbuh) was a Prophet and Jesus (pbuh) was also a Prophet.
>If these two are the only criteria for this prophecy to be
>fulfilled, then all the Prophets of the Bible who came after
>Moses (pbuh) such as Solomon, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel, Hosea,
>Joel, Malachi, John the Baptist, etc. (pbut) will
>fulfill this prophecy since all were Jews as well as
>prophets.
If we were to adopt your line of thought, may I first begin by requesting you to supply us with any proof that the prophets who followed after Moses were a fulfillment of D18:18. None of the prophets thereafter proclaimed that this verse spoke about them. Not even Mohammed himself proclaim such a thing. For what purpose then are Moslems trying so hard to force this part of the passage upon Mohammed.
There are certainly lots of evidence in the Bible to prove that God spoke of Jesus and not Mohammed. God tells Moses to inform Israel that the prophet was to be from among their brethren, which means that he would have to be an Israelite. Moslems who dispute this assert that, as the Arabs are the brothers of the Jews, this refers to an Arab. However, there is no scriptural evidence to support this. The Arabs are never called the brethren of the Jews in the Bible. There are a few verses where Edom is described as the brother (singular) of Israel ( See Num. 20:14, Deut. 23:7, Amos 1:11), but the word brethren (plural) is never used. In any case, Muhammad is not a descendent of Edom (who joined the Jews in the second century BC), but of Ishmael, who is never referred to as the brother of Israel. The passage can only mean that the prophet like unto Moses was to be an Israelite.
God proceeds below D18:18 in verses 21-22, to reveal to us who a true prophet should be. We find that the prophet would validate his message by some sign, either a miracle or a prediction of the future, which he would predict or announce and which would then be fulfilled. There is no doubt that Jesus worked miracles; even the Qur'an admits this (Q 5:115). However, Muhammad never performed a miracle and the set of predictions claimed for him is singularly unimpressive. For instance, Muhammad is said to have predicted that his followers would win the battle of Badr. In my view this was probably a method of encouraging them to fight more fiercely, and is self fulfilling as one would have never heard of the prediction if the battle had been lost. Quite contrary to biblical predictions where even loss of battles and conquest by alien armies were clearly disseminated. Indeed Muhammads prediction has no more superiority than that of Arsen Wenger, inspiring the Gunners. His prediction, therefore weightless.
The lack of signs from Muhammad is also commented upon in the Qur'an with words like: "They say: Why not a sign sent down to him from his Lord?" (Q 10:20; see also Q 6:109; Q 13:7; Q 17:59; Q 21:5,6). There is only one reason that the Qur'an would record passages like these, and that is because Muhammad never gave a prophecy or performed a miracle.
>However, it is Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) who is like Moses
>(pbuh):
In my view the list of the similarities and differences between Jesus, Muhammad and Moses you have presented before us, is a rather inconclusive and man-made way of looking at Deuteronomy 18. Rather than humans making lists of ways that Muhammad is, or is not, like Moses, it is better to let the passage itself say in what way the prophet will be like Moses. This is given us in the next two verses which i have already mentioned above.
According to the eye witnesses of the life of Jesus we read in Jn 6:14 then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world. The "prophet" mentioned here was the subject of one of the instances in which Jesus said, "Moses...wrote of me" (John 5:46). There, God had said to Moses: "I will raise them up a Prophet,...and will put my words in his mouth" (Deuteronomy 18:15,18).
Philip proclaimed unto Nathaniel, "We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph."
Peter preached that the Prophet of Deuteronomy 18:18 is Jesus in Acts 3:22 "For Moses truly said unto the fathers, A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me; him shall ye hear in all things whatsoever he shall say unto you."
And as if to pour scorn on your insinuation that all prophets who came after the proclamation of D18:18 must have fulfilled it, Peter says in Acts 3:24, "Yea, and all the prophets from Samuel and those that follow after, as many as have spoken, have likewise foretold of these days." Peter is clearly saying that none of those Prophets claimed to be the Prophet of D18:18, but rather they also spoke about the same Prophet of D18:18, and his coming.
>Words in the mouth:
>Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was unlettered and whatever
>revelations he received from Almighty God he repeated them
>verbatim.
Kindly tell us which prophet of God did not relay messeges verbatim to the people as directed by God. We know all prophets did. Thereforr, this rules out Muhammad as the Prophet of D18:18
> Muhammad (pbuh) is prophesised in the book of Isaiah:
>It is mentioned in the book of Isaiah chapter 29 verse 12:
Indeed this one Talks about Muhammad. Without one single seed of doubt I can attest to it. Let us look at that verse in Isaiah again.
Isaiah 29:12 "And the book is delivered to him that is not learned, saying, Read this, I pray thee: and he saith, I am not learned."
It is common for Moslems to take pride in Muhammads illiteracy. All this however seem to me a deliberate attempt in the sense that they want Isaiah 29:12 to fit the description of their prophet. They are quick to note that all biblical prophets were literate thus this verse can only fit Muhammad.
Is 29:12 is about a false prophet. Slightly above verse 12, let us Consider verse 10, the context, "For the LORD hath poured out upon you the spirit of deep sleep, and hath closed your eyes: the prophets and your rulers, the seers hath he covered." The prophet was unable to read the words of the prophecy because God had made him illiterate. He had done this because the prophet was teaching man's ideas and not the word of God as stated in verse 13. And since Muhammad was illiterate then this prophecy is really about him- False Prophet!
>When Archangel Gabrail commanded Muhammad (pbuh) by saying
>Iqra - "Read", he replied, "I am not learned".
This is a very silly thing for an angel of God to do. We assume that God knew Muhammad could not read why is Gabriel goofing by asking Muhammad to read? Did God not pre-briefed him about Muhammads illiteracy?
That aside I think the Word Iqra if my memory serves me right means recite as opposed to read. It is from the command Iqra that we often see Moslems recite the Quran. The only difference between them and Muhammad being that, they can read and recite while Muhammad heard and recited.
I have previously stated elsewhere to the displeasure of your fellow Moslems in this forum that the identity of this angel Gabriel is suspect. I went ahead and gave evidence about this story of Gabriels appearance to a terribly shaken Muhammad(he thought he had seen a demon). Who thereafter sought to be consoled by his wife Khadija. It is amazing how Khadija whom the Quran does not in any one occasion corroborates that she had any angelic visitation briefing him of her husbands divine mission prior to this event, would confidently assure Muhammad that what he had seen in cave of his meditation was indeed and angel from Allah. The same applies to Waraqa Ibn Naufal, Khadijas cousin. He was not in any advantaged position to declare that Muhammad had seen and angel yet both cousins lied to the prophet of Islam. Is it possible that foundation of Islam is built upon sands of lies? That is a question that remains to be answered as we proceed.
>prophet Muhammad (pbuh) mentioned by name in the old
>testament:
>Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is mentioned by name in the Song of
>Solomon chapter 5 verse 16:
>"Hikko Mamittakim we kullo Muhammadim Zehdoodeh wa Zehraee
>Bayna Jerusalem."
>Songs of Solomon 5: 16, "His mouth is most sweet:
>yea, he is altogether lovely. This
is my beloved, and this is my friend, O daughters of Jerusalem."
>In the Hebrew language "im" is added for respect. Similarely
>"im" is added after the name of Prophet Muhammad
>(pbuh) to make it Muhammadim. In English translation they have
>even translated the name of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) as
>"altogether lovely", but in the Old Testament in Hebrew, the
>name of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) is yet present.
You must be kidding me, aint you Aways?
The words altogether lovely is the Hebrew Machmaddim. Moslems claim that this word is a reference to Muhammad for two reasons,
1. The word Machmad (singular of Machmaddim) sounds a bit like the name Muhammad
2. The word Machmad means The praised one (i.e. the one worthy of praise); this, they assert, must be Muhammad!
Let us look at various reason why SoS 5:16 cannot be talking about Muhammad.
First of all, logically speaking the assertion that the word Machmad is Muhammad because the two words sound a bit similar is somewhat specious. The name John sounds a bit like the Arabic Jinn, but there is no connection between the two. Similarly a connection on the grounds that the word means "the praised one" falls short of a guaranteed logical link; has only one person in the world ever been praised?
Secondly, the Biblical context of the passage identifies the person described as Machmad as someone in the time of Solomon (SoS 3:11) who is loved by a Shulamite (SoS 6:13). He is red-haired (SoS 5:10). None of these descriptions fits Muhammad who never visited Shunem in his life.
Thirdly, a search of all the occurrences of the word Machmad in the
Bible shows that the word has nothing to do with praise. It simply refers to whatever is desirable for whatever reason and is derived from the root chamad which means desire.
And lastly, if one is to accept that the word Machmad refers to Muhammad then one should look at all the occurrences of that word in the OT. When one does this one can see why only the occurrence in the Song of Solomon is cited by Moslems.
Below is a myriad occurrences
They tell us that Machmad
Was destroyed (2 Chron. 36:19)
Was to be laid waste (Isa. 64:10-11)
Has been taken captive by an enemy (Lam. 1:10),
Has been traded for food (Lam. 1:11),
Has been slain by God (Lam. 2:4; Hos. 9:16),
Has been removed by God (Ezek. 24:16),
Is to be profaned by God (Ezek. 24:21),
Is to be buried in nettles (Hos. 9:6) and been carried away by pagans into their temples (Joel 3:5).
We will agree with each other that even an unkind person would not attribute all these things to Muhammad. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in the New Testament:
The Comforter/ Periclytos/ Paracletos/ Paraclete
Brevity demands that I do not paste the long verse here. I shall therefore only give reference which we will be examining as we proceed.
We begin with your first choice which is John 14:16-17, John 15:26:
You Moslems claim that the Comforter described in this passage is Muhammad. The evidence they give for this is extremely loose. Jesus shows here that his task is not complete, but that something else will be sent to complete it. Moslems believe that many of the things that are left for the Comforter (Greek: Paracletos) to do are things that were done by Muhammad and Muhammad was given various titles which are included in this passage applied to the Comforter.
But is that the truth? Let us take a close up and see if Muhammad is really worthy of these praises that Moslems want accorded to him. Was he really the Paracletos?
1. If Moslems quote this passage they must be prepared to take its teaching seriously as something sent from God.
2. The names, titles, etc. applied to Muhammad were given after the event by Moslems who would be aware of them from accounts of the Bible which had traveled to Arabia.
3. The New Testament clearly identifies the Comforter as the Holy Spirit (John 14:26).
4. The task of the Comforter was to confirm the words of Jesus (John 14:26). Muhammad never fitted this. He did not confirm the words of Jesus to the disciples because he never heard Jesus speak and the disciples died centuries before he was born.
5. Muhammad cannot have been the Spirit of Truth (John 14:17; 16:13). He was not a spirit but a solid man.
6. The world could not receive the Comforter (John 14:17). Muhammad was not only received but founded a great empire.
7. The Comforter was to relate to the disciples all the words of Jesus (John 14:26). Apart from the fact that Muhammad never met the disciples he did not relate any of the words of Jesus (the words that appear in the Qur'an and purport to come from Jesus really came from late apocryphal sources).
8. The Comforter was sent by Jesus from God (John 15:26; 16:7) In what way did Jesus send Muhammad?
9. The Comforter was to give prophecy (John 16:13). Muhammad never gave any meaningful prophecy apart from soccer-bet-like predictions regarding military conquests remember the battle of Badr.
John 16:7
Biblically
but if I depart, I (Jesus)will send him (the comforter/Gods Spirit) unto you.
Islamic reasoning
but if I depart, I (Jesus)will send him (the comforter/Muhammad) unto you.
Apart the point number 8 above I also want say this. We all know that it Allah who sent Muhammad and not Jesus. Why then is Aways saying otherwise? Is s/he telling us now that the Quran was wrong to say that Muhammad was Allah Messeger?
Again if it was Jesus who sent the Comforter (Muhammad) we must also accept that Moslems Acknowledge that Jesus is indeed God, otherwise by what authority would he send Muhammad? Only God can send messengers to deliver his divine messages, right.
Existence of the Holy Spirit BC:
Indeed this a good point you mention, but did you not realize that that same bible also indicates that Jesus was not here on earth when the Holy Spirit was?
Let us assume that Muhammad was the said comforter. Would the title comforter really fit him. Hadiths and Hadiths would beg to differ. Muhammads moral life was so gross that the title comforter itself takes shame when we attempt to cloth the prophet of Islam with it. Muhammad was a warrior. Wars do not bring comfort but lasting suffering. We have all read of his lust houris and many other misdeeds that heaped a lot of discomfort to his subjects. I will not go into details of this because, this a subject that requires a time of its own. But should you requires us to discuss this then I will gladly plunge in.

>With its styles and high
>eloquency no one can do justice to the quran with respect to
>its translation. So one one has been able to come up with a
>book like the quran in arabic. And this challlenge will remain
>to a thorn in the eye of non believer.
Again I beg to differ. It's illogical to use absolute superlatives on things that cannot be measured definitively, or things that are a matter of opinion. We can say absolutely that Everest is the tallest mountain in the earth, or Russia is the biggest country in the world because both can be measured definitively. But we cannot say that Everest is the most beautiful mountain, or Russia is the most romantic country, because those are opinions or descriptions of things that cannot be measured definitively. I'm sure you agree with that.
That said, it's therefore illogical to claim that no-one can, or will ever, come up with a book like the Koran because the Koran is the best written book ever, with the best prose ever, and the best blah blah blah ever. Best according to whom? That is not a fact, it's but an opinion held by some Muslims and pushed through Islam as an undeniable dogma
>Do not misquote me my dear. I have never said muhammad(pbuh)
>wrote the quran in 23 years but i said that the quran was
>REVEALED to prophet muhammad(pbuh) over a period of 23 years.
>In other words the quran was revealed in peacemeal.
The Koran was revealed to Mohammed over 23 years, starting from when he was 40 to when he was 63 years old. It was revealed little by little, through direct dictation. Mohammed did not memorize everything for 23 years then at age 63 sat and wrote what he had been told. No! Over 23 years, as he was dictated to, he wrote what Angel Gabriel told him. Therefore it took him 23 years to both get the Koran revealed to him and to simultaneously write it. I therefore don't get why you're denying that he wrote it in 23 years!
>Honestly speaking i have been reading those verses you did
>paste there from the time i was 7 years old and i have NEVER
>been bored by it. If anything the more i read them the more i
>got enlightened.
Well, kudos to you. I don't see how you can read Sura 108:1 "Lo! We have given thee Abundance;" for the 45th gabzillionth time and not get bored, or how reading Sura 112:2 "Allah, the eternally Besought of all!" for the 4,567,123rd time can give you a little more enlightenment than you got when you read it for the 4,567,122nd time! I thought enlightenment has a finite limit, ama?
>If one is free from prejudice one can not deny the divinity of
>the Quran and genuiness of prphet muhammad(pbuh) as the last
>and final messenger of God.
That's a biased opinion! In my world, as long as you don't provide me with an iota of evidence to back up the claim that god exists and he sent an angel to dictate to an illiterate man over 23 years his book on life, then I dismiss it as hogwash!
