Sometimes I do stumble in this forum just for kicks. While sometimes you hope logic would prevail in some arguments, this one backfired drastically. My point is; Death, your analogy about Santa Claus totally flew over Americanized head. This one totally missed him it is laughable. Declare death on the response or you might get another spin to it.

Analogies need to make sense before they can be considered analogies. Comparing a tire to a cabbage might qualify as an analogy in your book, but here in the world outside the looney bin, it doesn't.

Don't make me school you idiots on logic! Before an analogy can qualify as an analogy, it has to make sense; there has to be some aspect of both items, concepts, ideas, or situations that can be directly comparable.
For instance, comparing racism to tribalism is an analogy because, although tribalism may only involve members of one racial group, what makes this an analogy is the fact that there exists a perceived difference between two populations, which forms the core of prejudicial ideas, perception, behavior and actions. Or comparing a complex personality to the several layers of an onion.
What this guy did was compare belief in God to belief in Santa, not because it is a fitting analogy, but simply out of his prejudicial disgust for Christianity and religion in general. Let me explain why your "analogy" is dead wrong.
A more apt analogy would probably have been the widespread belief in the theory that the world was flat in the Middle Ages. This analogy would have been better because (1) There was no evidence of the fact the world was flat yet people believed it. (2) Galileo was persecuted for asserting that the world was, in fact, round, and (3) The belief was widespread.
Your analogy of comparing Christianity to belief in Santa Claus fails for the same reasons above. (1) The gospel is a historical document based on first hand accounts of the life of Jesus Christ, who was a real historical figure. There is archeological evidence to back this up. Miracles are still performed today in the name of Jesus Christ, and there have been numerous scientifically verified miracles, tumors disappearing miraculously after prayer, e.t.c.
(2) The Spanish Inquisition qualifies as persecution against non-believers. However, this was in direct contradiction to the teachings if christ as I have explained in a previous post. If a person is taught in school that 1+1=2, but he keeps believing 1+1=4, are you gonna blame mathematical theory for this or simply the fact that this person has no clear grasp of mathematical concepts?
(3) There is absolutely no widespread belief that Santa is a real person, while Christianity is one of the major world religions. I don't see how you came up with this. You were really reaching on this one! You need to go back and look up the meaning of analogy in the dictionary.
(4) As I explained in a previous post, TRUE Christianity does not believe in forcing their religion on anyone. We will try to evangelize you, but ultimately the choice is yours whether you want to be a Christian or not. And, using belief in Santa as an analogy for persecution is just downright dumb! You need to brush up on your analogies. Where is the comparison?
(5) While you are busy pointing a finger at Christians for persecution, take time to explain the persecution of Christians in the former Soviet Union. Yes, the Soviet Union tried to enforce ATHEISM on their citizens. Christians were imprisoned and murdered for holding Christian services, so take that persecution complex chip off your shoulder!
What's sad is that I can actually argue your side of this discussion better than even you yourself can!

Your pseudo-intellectual justification for atheism has just been revealed as common garden-variety ignorance! Go find some fifth-graders to confuse with your garbage! We are adults up in here!

@Tako,
I totally agree. I've never seen someone miss the bus that seriously.

@Death,
welcome to my world.

Why is Americanized trying to blow smoke in our asses? Once he failed dragging us in the mud; he proceeds to smear it on our faces. Death nailed the point on the head; once you make a viable argument, then you might get a proper response.
On unrelated matter; why do people make a ridiculous comment and assume it is funny. Adding LOL at the end of a statement does not make it funny. Example..
Atlian
LOL
Reggie Woic
LOL
Safina
LOL
Busted..LOL
Wajibu...LMAO
Sounds retarded

A million idiots could agree that 1+1=16, but it still doesn't make it right!

Arguing with you idiots is like discussing quantum physics with third graders! Ganging up on me will not change the truth! Three wrong answers do not make a right!

Americanized,
I hope you you realize why a million believers and 10 atheists doesn't necessarily mean that god exists. It could be, to use your words above, a case of a million idiots agreeing on something. Like "they" say, sometimes a majority just means that all the idiots are on one side.
BTW, referring to your above example, you need to note that that is only true if we're talking about mathematics in Base 10. For those who are mathematically challenged, the everyday math we use is in what is called Base 10. In Base 10, 1+1 will always equal 2, 2+9=11, 4x4=16, etc. When you change bases, then things change drastically. e.g. using the same above examples, 1+1=10 in Base 2, 2+9=10 in Base 11, 4x4=22 in Base 7, etc. So Americanized, the next time you meet a bunch of people and call them idiots because they are saying that 6+4=13, you might just end up being the idiot when you realize that they are mathematicians who are discussing addition in Base 7.
