The Rapture -
10-27-2006, 03:05 AM
Ok guys,
What's the real story behind the rapture? I have heard many conflicting versions and do not know what to believe anymore... Has anyone here read the "Left Behind Series"? is there some truth behind it or is it utter fiction? Kindly let's discuss this amicably, make ur arguments short and precise ;)

THe rapture is used to suggest that Since God cannot let the righteous suffer with sinners, God shall take away the believers just before the seven year tribulation period begins..
As for me\
There is nothing like the rapture in the bible..
The reference in 2 THessalonians 3 that is used to support it is actually the second coming of christ..ANd as such the end of the tribulation rather than the start of it
FOr sure we shall be here while the tribulatin continues

What verse is it that says "two will be together walking on the road, two will be together sleeping on one bed, one will be taken, the other will be left..." I always thought that verse meant that christianity is a personal thing, one cannot go to heaven on account of another...

It is Mat 24:40,41. That has never changed. You have always thought right angel.
I had in the past talked about his Rapture thing theology in great lengths here. The series(book and movie) "left behind" is a fiction one that cannot stand any biblical tests. Both the movie and the book are only good for entertainment but not bibilically informative. In fact I urge all those who have read and watched it to arm themsleves with the bible lets ye be lead into the ditch.

Hii gal
First of all you need to know that REVELATION is a latin word for REVOLUTION.
Revelation says(last days),stars will fall from the sky.Stars are fixed and don't move in relation to earth coz they are far far away.Maybe it's thru ma ignorance that I can not visualize this.Stars seem to cross the sky towards the West at night because we are spinning towards the East.
All I can tell you is,religion was build on fear. They make you fearful so that they can walk on you well.Life is all about happiness, matter of fact life is nothing but entertainment to your spirit.A good loving God wanted us to have fun and enjoy life.Religions have wasted peoples lives, they make them live in fear every single minute,Just like you are about The rapture.
Someone needs to bring this religions under justice, they have wasted peoples lives. If you can really believe in the RAPTURE,then I can easily convince you that you are nothing but a 70 year old widowed virgin.

Thanks guys, it's just that the left behind series left me with many questions... I guess the only true way to know the truth is pray about it and study the bible closer... I wonder, where did people come up with the rapture theory? lol I'm adventist and that never did feature in sabath school!

Angel,Let alone the rapture featuring in the Sabbath School. It does not have any biblical origin at all.

I hate to see people who try to scare innocent young gals like Angelwings with stuff like rapture.wether there will be a rapture or not,we have to face the second law of thermodynamics. We are nothing but mass trapped in time anyway.
Gal next time they try to scare you,get hold of a heineken in one hand, strawberries in the other hand and scream "WOOO HOOOO life is so sweet.

By definition, Rapture is the belief that faithful christians will be bodily caught up from the earth, suddenly taken out of the world to be united with the lord "in the air".However note that the word "rapture" does not apear in the Bible and persons refer to 1 Thessalonians 4: 7 in support of rapture.
A further reading can clarify the meaning of 1 thess 4:7.For example read vs 15 and you will notice that it explains that these are faithful individuals who are "...left until the coming of the Lord", that is they are still living at the time of Christ's coming. Will they die? According to romans 6:3-5 and 1 Corinthians 15:35,36,44 they must die before they can gain heavenly life and yet people who believe in rapture claim that they will be taken away while still living.
