safina, stick to science fiction.

about the book of revelation it is full of metaphors and symbolism. even the writer John, did not understand what was being reveaaled to him. has it occured to you that the falling stars could have been airplanes or even missiles? a lot of the things you see today were unimaginable those days and thus the writers understanding is limited to his environment. he could even have been referring to meteors.

regarding the rapture, nobody knows exactly when it will occur. because it is related to the second coming of Christ, it has not been revealed when it will happen.

about the rapture, it is meerly a word coined to describe the events told by Jesus. Here is what he said.

The Day and Hour Unknown (Matt 24:36 - 44)

"No one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father. As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. For in the days before the flood, people were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day Noah entered the ark; and they knew nothing about what would happen until the flood came and took them all away. That is how it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be in the field; one will be taken and the other left. Two women will be grinding with a hand mill; one will be taken and the other left.

"Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come. But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at what time of night the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

teejay, i'm curious to know of your denomination. which church do you fellowship with? you speak of things that i do not understand.

Cookie, my denomination is Jesus Christ and I got to that Church called, Jesus Christ.

You say that you don't understand the things I say. What exactly is bothering you brother/sister. We can always talk about them here. You can enlighten me too, where you think I am going wrong, because I belive that spiritual prosperity belongs to those who take the Lord's counsel with humility.

The thing which has christians divided into two camps is whether the rapture, taking away of God's People',shall be before the tribulation period or at the end of the tribulation period..

Since I dis agree with say John Hagee and many TBN Preachers who constantly say it is so as to usher in the tribulation period it is only worthwhile that I support my stand.. I have not read the book left behind but being popular I suppose it suggests that There will be a rapture, and then the world system will be in chaos ,and then Antichrist will arise because of the chaos and as an answer to the chaos...

If that is the case then it is not supported...
Since it alludes that christians will not be here during the suffering times..ANd that comforts many.. But they neglect hte part where Jesus does say <i believe in Matthew 24 still> that for the elect's sake the days shall be shortened..Some say that the elect are those who are saved after the rapture..(quite unsupported by scripture) BUt I say that the elect will be bllievers who .. Otherwise why would we be warned of the antichrist if we shall not be hre during his reign..

The day will come as a thief in the night but when it comes it shall not be hidden.....

LOl! Cookie on the contrary I very okay with what you ask, so no beef btwn me and you.

Well, I always dont tell people where I fellowship because then I will encourage them to follow the traditions of the denomination rather than biblical teachings. So I tell them go to the church you go to but keep vigil and always read your bible.

Here at Mashada I keep my denominational background secret, because my sentiments may sometimes echo those of my denomination and people will dismiss them as skewed rather than look at the truth within in them. I hope you will forgive my stubbornness.

@ angelwings, as long as you hold on to your sense of irony, the left-behind series is an entertaining read, but it seems more in line with american paranoia about an all-out nuclear war than it does with christian philosphy.

why do i say that?

well, if the end is coming, isn't it stated in the bible that no one knows when that is? (as others have indicated elsewhere)
lahaye and jenkis take extreme liberties in their interpretation of events. are they prophets now?

another thing: why is the left behind series so similar to other american epics (akina star wars)? why are the chief protagonists white americans? of course there's a sprinkling of token blacks, yellows and browns here and there (for political correctness), but the usual ethnic biases are there for everyone to see. and of course, the american organization and technology saves the day/ saves the earth/ saves humanity in the end (with god's help, of course).

There are the millenialists, the premillenialists, amillenialists, etc

I am amillenialist

The Left Behind series is based on pre-millenialist theory

The rapture shall be there; dont think that its because the Lord doesnt want ati the righteous to suffer with the sinners; if that were the case all the righteous people would have gone long ago. The deal is this; The Lord loves us so much that He is willing to give us a second chance; and the mere fact that He shall rapture His Church means that He is proving to y'all that he done exists, because some peeps dont beliedat. And thereby fulfilling the scriptures.
And dont let the rapture be the one experience that will take for you to believe in dis; because if thats what it takes, you better watch this space.
