Safina, the reason you want me to answer you before you answer me is because you know as well as I do, that neither of us can explain where God or the black hole came from.
My college bio professor used to say to me believing in Evolution/big bang is as much of a religion or faith as Christianity or Islam is. Why? It takes a leap of faith to believe in God without fully understanding him, and it takes a leap of faith to believe in the black hole without fully understanding it. Also, neither a Christian nor a scientist can go into a lab today and perform repeated successful experiments (not merely observations) and give quantitative results for their 'beliefs' about evolution. You know very well there are holes in that theory, and in fact some people claim it shouldn't be a science because of it has a lot of circular arguments and the whole lab issue.

First of all I laughed so hard at the line "kenyan women are afraid to question...blah blah". Why would you think they'd be afraid to do so? And how many have you met? And WHO in particular, were they supposed to ask?
Anyways, to cut your long story short..., there's this line that quite sums this up simply as: "Religion is the opium of the society" . Sometimes pple just need to believe in a supernatural being/thing.., it makes it easy to deal with some various things in life without the many questions that you're wasting your energy on.

>Someone else do the thinking for you- a
>woman.
TeeJay,
what's wrong with a WOMAN thinking for you? I don't know about you, but I have been lucky to have been surrounded by some very strong mature intelligent women all my life, and their thoughts have guided me and helped me out in ways too many to mention.
A few examples... My sis is a financial analyst at a Citibank in NY. She does all my investing for me. She handles my 401K. I run all my financial questions and suggestions through her and she does the thinking for me. My small portfolio is doing pretty OK, and better than many portfolios run by men. My chic is a doctor, and again she does all my medical and health thinking for me. We're doing a small project to help out AIDS orphans and victims back home, and she's been the brains of the entire operation. Without her "woman" brain, I'd be nowhere. My mortgage broker is a chic, and through her I've been able to get some pretty good investment deals in Atlanta that I'd never have thought of getting. Plus she also helped me avoid a deal that I was in love with which would have cost me a ton of money.
The ex-chic I mentioned - she was also super bright (top 10 in KCSE in the country in her year), and she went on to become a very capable lawyer. I've used her legal advice many times, so yes, she still does my legal thinking for me. Despite being atheist (and therefore evil), she spent AT HER OWN EXPENSE 2 months in Indonesia and East Timor and 1 month in the Chad-side of Darfur helping those affected by the Tsunami and the Darfur Crisis. I know many believers, but none of them has ever done something like that. And she did mention to me that since almost all of the victims were Muslims, there were very few Christian charities involved where she was. The reason is one major goal of many Christian charities is to convert those they help, and sometimes there is more zeal to convert than to help...
I can go on and on, but I'm sure you get my point! Basically, unlike you, I have absolutely no issues at all with a woman doing the thinking for me, and many times women do my thinking for me and I get great results from that. If I do get daughters, I'll definitely train them to be mature independent thinkers who can express clear rational intelligent thoughts that can be followed by others. And I'll definitely advise them not to end up with men who have your mindset, because all you'll do is bog her creativity down with your archaic chauvinistic "a-woman-can't-think-for-me" thoughts...
Leo night when you pray I suggest you ask god to liberate your mind from such regressive chauvinistic thoughts. Nah, forget it - god is the most chauvinistic being out there, so I'm sure your chauvinism makes him mighty proud.
For all you strong women out there - keep it up, and please don't get guys with such negative mind-sets coz all they'll do is drag you down into their dark depressing gutters!

One day ,and it may be sooner than you think ,you will meet him and then you will know why apparently formerly very so called intelligent free thinkers bow down at the name of Jesus.

MauMau,
this is what I refer to as empty rhetoric! I also know of many who used to bow down at the name of Jesus but who are now "intelligent" free thinkers, what's your take on them? There's no single atheist I know who wasn't a believer at one time. Plus there are many of those who convert to other religions. Is it that they didn't meet Jesus or what?

ATlian, you are going far Mate. It was not my intention at all to mock any woman here, Am sorry If I created that impression to you. I only marveled at how because of your love for a non-believer, your belief diappeared in the twinkling of an eye. I too know of many a woman who do well in the financial areas and any other sectors, but then that was not my line of discussion.
Other people may do the thinking for you, but always the last say rests with you. In the case of you and your ex-lover I feel that she instilled a wrong religious thinking for you. She chose the path of disbelief and destruction for you. What is so good about that?
May I say that it is good for you, that those women are helping you out with other areas your life,I certainly would like that kind of professional help, I would be even more content with the fact my immediate kin is handling my affairs, but when it comes to matters Spirtual I do not need a professional atheist to shred my belief with decieful fallacies.
Let me ask you one thing ATlian. You seem to be making it big with your secular material life, but mate what does does it profit a man to gain the whole world, but loose his own soul by wallowing in miasma of wrong spiritual advice.
ATlian, are we in this world just to make money and serve our selfish interests and die. Is there no hope of life after death? Is death the end of you?
In everyone of us, there is a spirit which always longs to have a communion with a supreme divine being somewhere. And that is why we have people always engaged in some kind of religous processes. It is because of this spirit that God said we are made in his image-Spiritual Image. Our spirit(the indwelling temple of the God) was to be the Channel through which we commune with the father. You must however note that because we do not seek to commune with true divine being we are always lead astray by our carnal beliefs, of course under the influence of Satan, who appears in many form; relatives, friends , angels of light, late kinsmen etc.
I know that deep inside you, sometimes you feel the conviction.
"The whole world, from President [George W.] Bush downwards, was engaged in trying to strike a power-sharing deal. If that power-sharing deal made Odinga number three, we'd have never accepted it." - Salim Lone

Indeed many who are in the faith make very good atheists..sometimes they may feel that God is not being fair and the enemy is always after planting seeds of doubt and rebellion agaiinst God in believers.. But it is always good to know that as Jesus said, the ones given to him are his and no one can take them away from his hand..
Backsliders are many, I would be lying if I have not had to contend with periods of doubt but once you know God is there, He loves you ,and he has done some undeniable miracles in your life,it is kind of hard to turn your back on him..and pretend all is welll...
They went out from us that it may be manifest that they were not part of us//

We Wajibu, you seriously need Jesus; and I mean it. You need to repent before God lets his wath pour on you.Like somebody mentioned in another thread John Lennon died for saying something he shouldn't have said about the son of God. You could be next. And this I have been inspired by God to tell you.

@teejay, seems to me that ATLian chose the atheist path because it made sense to him, not because of his "love for a non-believer". alot of people do question faith for genuine reasons. the challenge to you and to other people of faith is to ask yourselves what it is in religion that drives others away from it.
(and the answer is not "satan". i think blaming satan is often a convenient way for ppl to avoid taking responsibility for their actions.)

First of all I dont fear death; but I fear being paralyzed. I want a swift death; no room for error. I suggest you read my response to John Lennon comment. And newsflash according to gods design I was no mistake. He had billions of sperms to choose from but picked mine. Picked Wajibu knowing quite well I would rebel later against him. I think everything has happened to his plan since God is aware of everything and knows the future. From your comment religion has inflicted so much fear in you such that u cant think out of the box. Who wants to pray a God who doesnt practice what he preaches? This god of yours sounds so awful, him being so bloodthirsty and so vicious and quick to administer justice.
