Default Jesus is the son of God - 09-30-2006, 07:23 AM

Why? He was a nobody. He didn’t have a bloodline, he was born in barn, he wasn’t a king, he wasn’t a prophet, he wasn’t a priest, he wasn’t a overachiever, there was no genetic mix, he was conceived from a virgin’s womb, like the holy spirit rented Mary’s womb, he basically just came and went. If you really think about what Jesus did he really didn’t do anything except go around the countryside eating, drinking, talk a lot, be at peace with all, he didn’t donate to charity, he didn’t help the poor much, he was unemployed, he was single, he had no offspring, he didn’t do policies, he really didn’t do anything that leaders do but they killed him anyway for being himself really. He wouldn’t have a CV today which makes you wonder could a human being called Jesus exist? Of course not. His existence only makes sense when you see him as the son of God. How can a nobody wield so much power today? They can’t. David, Moses etc. those guys all had connections. Jesus wreaks the son of God. What more would you have expected from the son of God?

>He was a nobody. He didn’t have a bloodline, he was born
>in barn, he wasn’t a king,

-Um.... Isn't it the New Testament that establishes Jesus' BLOODLINE going back to KING David?

>he wasn’t a prophet, he wasn’t a
>priest, he wasn’t a overachiever,

-And yet when he was a boy, he stayed back at the temple discussing religious texts and issues with priests while his parents were looking for him. And at some later point in his life he went into the desert and fasted for 40 days (and nights), and conversed with the Devil. Doesn't sound like the itinerary of an underachiever to me.

>If you
>really think about what Jesus did he really didn’t do anything
>except go around the countryside eating, drinking, talk a lot,
>be at peace with all, he didn’t donate to charity, he didn’t
>help the poor much,

-That's debatable. when you feed hundreds of poor hungry ppl, is that not helping the poor?

>he was unemployed,

-I thought the Nazarene was a carpenter.

>he didn’t do policies,

-Also debatable. If someone disrupts the social order (which is precisely what the NT describes Jesus as doing), then he is creating policies. In other words, ni mwanasiasa.
Some say he was a revolutionary/ social reformer.

>he really didn’t do
>anything that leaders do but they killed him anyway for being
>himself really.

-If by "leaders", you mean our home-grown Kenyan models, then I'm relieved to say that Jesus probably didn't do the sort of things they do... :)

>He wouldn’t have a CV today which makes you
>wonder could a human being called Jesus exist?

-He had a CV, actually a set of them: The Gospels.

Wow! youv'e raised alot of questions to which most pple would find debateable, I wouldn't. You seem to have alot of knowledge of the bible which is great but don't make it complicated. works with FAITH, I belive that Jesus is the son of God he wasn't a worldly king. He came to the world humbly and lived through showing LOVE which was his purpose (also remember he hung out with the outcasts)All these things enough makes me believe!.

Default He taught with authority... - 10-25-2006, 04:49 AM

His tone as he spoke and taught often puzzled the people of his day. He amazed them “because He taught as one who had authority, and not as their teachers of the law” (Matthew 7:29).

Because he did this, the religious rulers of the day, those “teachers of the law,” often challenged Him, demanding that He reveal the source of his authority. Jesus sometimes refused to answer them, but as He was about to leave this earth He said – “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me” (Matt.28:18). The source was His Father, God Himself.

The earth has known no greater example of authority than Jesus Christ. He was never corrupted by greed or power, ‘though he was tempted by Satan (Matt.4:1-11), never abused His authority or limited the freedoms of his people. He was, and is, the ultimate servant King, the ultimate beneficent ruler.
