Islam: The Ultimate Source of Knowledge -
06-23-2006, 02:38 AM
The Islamic world has contributed too much, and these gifts are completely ignored by the world because of the hatred caused by the missionaries. The ‘Dark Ages’ of Europe was extinguished by the Light of Islam, and the entire world has ignored the historical facts of how Europe came to power, it translated the Arabic works of Muslim Spain and used the knowledge to attack Islam. A clear study of European history shows that Islam gave birth to the Renaissance, and the Muslim contributions were carried over to Europe. The ignorant Europeans of the ‘Dark Ages’ were civilized by the knowledge transmitted to them.
History shows that wherever Christians traveled, they destroyed the knowledge and wisdom of that culture, burning to ashes the Ancient Wisdom which prepared the way for 1500 years of Darkness. Yet Islam brought the Christians out of Darkness, but today, very little appreciation is showed to Muslims who ended the ‘Dark Ages’ by spreading the Light of Learning. Why did Christians destroy books when Muslims preserved the ancient knowledge? The debt is owed to Islam, for contributing to the fields of Science, Philosophy, Medicine, Geography, Mathematics, Geology, etc
We have compiled the evidence to support that Muslims completely changed the world by preserving (not destroying) the Ancient knowledge of civilization, whereas the Christians destroyed over 15,000,000 books and scrolls. We probably could’ve had the cure for many diseases today if these barbaric and ignorant Christians of the ‘Dark Ages’ did not destroy the knowledge of ancient civilization.

Learn from history but never dwell on it otherwise you risk sounding like an apologist...

It was actually 1260(a time, two times and half a time) years of darkness. Yours is abit on the higher side. And beleive me the same history has it that Muslims were used to perpetrate some of the most heinous crimes in the history of mankind to institute the dark periods.

Judging by what you have been posting here i doubt whether that is true. If your history could not get it right that it was christ that was crucified how sure are we that the other historical records are true accounts?
Just a question Dady. Do you have any Idea why those days were called "dark"?

@TEEJAY,
am Afraid i dont answer rhetorical questions.
What do u mean when u ask if i knw the dark ages?
BACK TO THE TOPIC
First of all, the zero was invented by Muhammad Ibn Musa, who was also the first to use the DECIMAL POINT notation.
Great Historian Gibbons: He wrote in his fifth volume of "Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire" that the science of Chemistry owes its origin and improvements to the Muslims.
Trigonometry / Sine / Tangent / Co. - Tangent : The Arabs developed these and Ibn MusaÂ’s work "Hisab-Al Jab-Wal Muqabala" (meaning the Calculation of Integration and Equation) presented 800 examples in the eight century. His work was translated from Arabic into Latin and until the 16th century, it was EuropeÂ’s main text book on the subject.
Geometry / Algebra: An other great mathematician was Omar Khayyam, who offered to the world geometric as well as algebraic solutions of the second degree. Nasiruddin wrote the treatise on the quadrilateral trigonometry, as well as plain and spherical geometry.
Physics: Kamaluddin examined the refraction of sun light in rain drops and actually offered an explanation of the genesis of primary and secondary rainbows. The story of the invention of the pendulum and the presentation of a water clock to Emperor Charlemagne by Harun Al Rashid is well known.
Science of Mechanics: The development of science of Mechanics in Islam is an act of genius. Musa Ibn Shakir described one hundred peices of mechanical equipment in his book of artifices. Other outstanding Muslim treatises included "Al Kitab Fi Marifat Al Hiya Al Handasiyya" (The Book of the Knowledge of Ingenious Geometrical Contrivances" by Abul Fiaz Ibn Al Raz.
Al Kitab Mizanal Hikmah (The book of the Balance and Wisdom by Al Khazini). He also did work on accurate weighing, determination of specific Gravity.
Camera Obscura: In the field of optics, Camera Obscura was invented by Ibm Haitham in 1038 AD. Incidentally, Hazrat Ghous Paak (RA) was born in the year 1077 AD.
Theory of Relativity: Hazrat Qazi Abu Bakr had developed the theory of relativity in the Eighth Century in terms of time and space by means of mathematical equations and Astrophysics. Imagine, Einstein wasnÂ’t even born in the western world, who propounded the same theory of relativity in the Twentieth Century.
Geography: As far as Geography was concerned, the Muslim Scientists established in the ninth century that the world was round and under the Caliphate of Mamun, the first map of the globe was made.
Paper Makings: This was one of the earliest skills attained by the Muslims. As early as the Eighth Century, high quality paper was being manufactured in Samarkand. Egypt was known to have its first paper mill in the year 900 A.C. The earliest Arabic manuscript written on paper that have been discovered is the Gharib Al Hadith by Abu Ubayed, dated 837 A.C.. It can be seen in Holland preserved in the Library of University of Leyden.
Advances in the Industry: Spain under the Islamic rule was an industrial centre. It was one of the wealthiest and thickly populated of European countries. Muslims were leading in Weaving Wool, Silk, Home Pottery, Jewelry, Leather and Perfume Industry. In the middle ages, the world trade was commanded by the Muslims and Baghdad, Bokhara and Samarkand remained centers for world fairs until the 16th Century

Dady, just how simple can a question be for it to be answered?
Again I shall ask you to refrain from attributing inventions and discoveries to religion, but to individual personalities behind those activities.
There are a thousand more things that have been done by christians, but we dont take pride in that. We focus on the work of Christ in the temple above as he finalises his prayers plead his blood for his followers before God.
Islam can be very petty at times. Now I know wny you dwell on the word christianity.

And then what happened to your so called muslim inventions after the 16th century?

teejay,
>Again I shall ask you to refrain from attributing inventions
>and discoveries to religion, but to individual personalities
>behind those activities.
You are right in saying that it is not wise to attribute inventions to religions per se, but it can be attributed to a religion in the manner that it paves the way for these brilliant personalities to flourish. The Muslims of Spain paved the way for the Renaissance, no doubt about that, and at the same time Christianity was an obstacle for innovation in Europe. This is also a fact.
I don't like the way dadyamaru makes this to sound like my mosque is better than your church and my teacher is better than your teacher. It is not Christianity or Islam as faiths that are a hinder or catalyst for innovation but the application of these two great religions. You could equally quiz dadyamaru why Muslims are today not active intellectually as their predecessors of Andalucia and blame it on Islam. This would be lamentable and far from the truth but wouldn't be different from what he is calling for here.
>Islam can be very petty at times. Now I know wny you dwell on
>the word christianity.
>
Here you make a classical error by interpreting the actions of an individual as "Islam". Surely you can tell the difference can't you?
timmys,
>The buggers stopped thinking after the expulsion form Spain,
>and the end of the Ottoman empire. What has the muslim world
>done since then?
What goes up must come down. Perhaps a few hundred years from today Africans will be at the helm taunting Europeans and the rest of the world asking them...what have you done for humanity lately?
