Default Testimony - 05-24-2006, 02:23 PM

Just wanted to tell you a story about what I witnessed at church. A member of our church has two adult children. His daughter is a member and attends with him. His son, who is a Sunday Christian, does not. In the past, I believe his son has visited the church once or twice with skepticism.

His father has over many years appealed to him to come to the Sabbath truth, but to no avail. Yesterday I saw his son in church for the first time with his wife and baby. During testimony time, he was the last to rise. He told us of a man who had one well-read-curled book and a survey. He did not know the man, and the man did not know him. The man told him he was directed to give him the small book.

His wife had never attended service as far as I know. So I spoke to her after service. She had the brightest smile on her face as she told me that they read every page together and how it now made sense. She also shared that the man had only that one book and that as far as they could see, their house was the only house visited by this man in their neighborhood.

I am convinced, if it had come from his father, it would have been tossed aside like many other books the father had given before.
Sometimes a third party deliverer directed by the Lord makes all the difference. The faithfulness of his servant(s) brought a family together.

Servant(s)? This book was one of the five million books printed last month. The authors were Danny Shelton and Shelley Quinn. “Ten Commandments Twice Removed”

Sorry, when i HEAR testimonies that dont point to Jesus (and Salvation) or READ religious books/commentaries that dont point to the Bible ....... I get very suspicious.

Test every Spirit!

@TM, the man in question has now learned of the Sabbath truth through the book he was given. He no longer attends Sunday church. That decision could only have been effected by the power of the Holy Spirit; the same Comforter whom Jesus gave us to lead us into all truth.

@milanya, please note the context in which the phrase 'sunday christian' is applied in the testimony.

Pebbles,

The Holy Spirit;-
1. convicts people of Sin and righteousness
2. is the Great Comforter and Councelor
3. Helps us in Prayer
4. enables us live a life where the FRUIT of the Spirit is evident.
etc

BUT not to 'no longer attend Sunday church'

Lets agree on one thing, the foundation is
1. FAITH and not obedience of the law
2. Worship God DAILY in truth and in spirit.
3. Live a Spirit controlled life

For the sake of all SDA's i'll explain the sabbath day argument.

Saturday is the seventh day of the week. God commanded the jews through moses to observe this day to worship him.

For Christians, Sunday is observed as the day of worship to celebrate the resurrection of Christ. It matters less which day you go to church. Some people even attend service on wednesday/friday night. We attend church to fellowship and worship as a body of Christ.

Christ came to fulfil the law and we are no longer under the bondage of the law.

Get that into your cranium. If we are to follow the mosaic laws to the tilt then we wouldn't be christians.

Dont let your Christian walk be entangled in legalism.
