God or Mammon? -
02-26-2006, 10:07 AM
Hello Everyone,
Something has been bothering me for quite some time now. I'm a christian and read my bible modestly. I read in Matthew 6:24 that...No man can serve two masters...ye cannot serve God and mammon. According to my understanding of this the mammon here is the Devil. My problem is, i keep running into people from a certain churh(church of the mammon-i think)these people keep inviting me to their churh,sometimes i feel they're stalking me.This church seems corny to me. I feel it has everything to do with the devil.Can't sleep,keep having a feeling that someone is watching me. I'm so freaked out. I feel these people are after me.Am i just being paranoid? Does anyone know of this church?

The church is called the Mormon church. Encouraged polygamy in the US till the late 1800s. As an adventist, I hold a biased view...but only God knows which denomination is true and which isnt...and if denomination matters afterall. Am reminded of the thief that was crucified with Jesus. He got saved as he was dying merely by believing in Him. He didnt even get baptized by water or have a denomination in his life. But he got a pass to eternal life anyway.
As for the pple stalking u, I share ur pain. I have met alot of them in my small town too. These people are annoying. If I tell u I am already saved and I have my own church, why try to force me to come to urs? Si spend that time going after non-believers?
So dont be scared. Like the scientologists, the mormons seems to have resolved to make a big and harder push to recruit people.

@bilbabe
Why dont you seek God first and have him cleanse and restore.
Jesus paid it all. You can be free.
PS. The passage you are quoting is actually talking about MONEY. use the online Bible http://www.biblegateway.com/ for various translations

How do you know he wasn't baptized? Maybe he was a baptized god-fearing man who stole to feed his family then got caught.

If you find these people annoying and you believe in the same thing, don't you think we non-believers will find them even more annoying? If you don't want them to make you change your beliefs, why are you okay with them making us change our beliefs?

It says very clearly that they were not saved.

I only find it annoying in that it kind of disrespects my religion. We are already on the same page so why bother me? Non believers on the other hand have not accepted christ for one reason or another. Believers have a responsibility to talk to non believers and see which one is willing to be saved. Those who dont want to are free to do so and their will is respected. The aim is to make sure everyone knows Him so that they'll not have an excuse for not beleiving on judgement day.
