Default Meaning?? - 08-18-2005, 01:50 AM

“Your body is the temple of the Lord and you should not destroy it, if you destroy it God will destroy you”

There’s this book I read everyday morning, I got it from a friend. Oh yeah! It’s called daily bread. It has all days from Jan-Dec, with versus from the bible to read each day.

I came across the aforementioned, and it got me thinking. Any Christians out here what exactly does it mean?

You can start with the verses from 1Cor. 5:19-20
Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.

hello there.

>I came across the aforementioned, and it got me thinking. Any
>Christians out here what exactly does it mean?

I am not a christian but i suppose i could explain what it means. I shall try to explain it in simple terms. All human bodies are very similar. They are composed of the same stuff that "clay" is composed of. And what is this? atoms. Every atom is composed of protons, neutrons and electrons. These are all exactly the same for every atom. But what makes atoms different from each other is the number of protons, neutrons and electrons in each atom. Thus the body is composed of the same thing that exists everywhere. And what is this thing that is omnipresent? God. What holds an atom together? Forces that science is still trying to find out more about. This unknown 'known' force ( cos we know it is there) is what Christians call the spirit of God inside of you. If you refuse to acknowledge that presence of that force is akin to "death"......strictly speaking it means death of knowledge or ignorance in other words. If you destroy one's body you've caused the force to cease it's presence in the body. But if atoms are the same and the body returns to dust as many books state then what is the difference between the wall and yourself, both, all atoms??
The difference is that the human body ( and other higher energy beings) have more than just the force that holds atoms together....it is a causative force.....it is what causes one to do things according to their free will. Hence we see how God has blessed us with choice through free-will. But i digress.........I hope you understood what I said, please feel free to ask anything however silly or intelligent it may seem. The answers are not out there....they are within you. If you dont look within you, you go without. Thanks.

Hey mukash

>Lol...One of the reasons I get sleepy in church.

true that...it is what happens when you ask a question and expect a yes/no answer but only try to listen with your eyes.....try using your ears instead next time in church, close your eyes and keep your ears open and most importantly do not shut your brain down..........Or just don't ask questions you don't want to listen answers to.

Maybe I should go to church on Sunday and ask my pastor. Who will patiently listen and answer me without getting bitter at my ignorance.

Hey mukash

>If u get a kick out of this, knock urself out.

No I do not kicking anything or anyone especially when they are down.......what tickles me is that you asked a question and when i endeavoured to explain you retorted by saying that it is that kind of thing that makes you sleep in church......and Now you want to go to your pastor in church for answers to questions you should have first asked your pastor instead of sleeping in church.

your words or comments are simply an expression of who you really are. i was knocked out a long time ago when i realized who i really was.

Mukash,

I dont know why u would read the daily bread in the first place(i'm thinking God knows)

My opinion is keep reading the Bible/daily bread or whatever n the Lord will reveal himself to you in his own time.(if that is his plan)

Otherwise good question. Any human answer any will only invite self edifying debate
