Default dressing modesty - 06-07-2005, 11:19 PM

Whatever the changing fashions and cultures throw to you, it is important to remember to dress in a way that will bring out the best in yourself and those around you.

Dressing is a personal choice in the western world, where the world of fashion is flourishing and booming.
Still the west, is the home ground and the epicenter in propagation of Christianity and the modern moral value…. This is a very wrong notion if you swallowed that!
According to old testament a female is better off covering her head and dress her self modestly, In this case modest meaning not to dress in skimpy dresses, equally the bible prohibit a woman dressing in to mans wears. My point is the west being the center of religion prosperity (Christianity) is the main region of impacting wrong picture and brain wash most of African Christians in to going astray in fashion design.
The Islamic world is opposite, with majority of people dressed in a modest manner and the men in a religious way.
I like the way the Catholics men and nuns keep to the dress code biblically, and very unfortunate to those people who protested against Jesus.

hey TM,

why not raise your level of belief from:

>Whatever the changing fashions and cultures throw to you, it
>is important to remember to dress in a way that will bring out
>the best in yourself and those around you.

into:

No matter the changing fashions and whatever cultures throw at you, it is important to remember to act in your highest conscience truthfully in a way that will bring out the best in yourself and those around you, regardless of what you wear.

Your 'inner' dress code is more important than your external physical look....for if The Great Lord chose to do so we would all be born fully clothed and not butt naked. That nakedness is the bare truth about yourself.

-the paradigm shifter......God's friend.

The soul is that which beholds beauty even when the mind denies it.

Amen to that. Yes esp when going to church people please if you look at an out fit and say to yourself that can definately go clubbing... then please know that it can't go to church. My best worst scenario is a babe in a tight trouser you can even see the cellulite on the butt and a tight short top. Cmmn now self prophesd believer/christian or not... some of this things take a little common sense.

Do you guys honestly think that god is fickle enough to care about how people look and what they are dressed in when they are worshipping him? Don't forget there are still those tribes who's chics walk around topless and only wear a sisal skirt, and even a few tribes where everyone is still stark naked. Are you guys saying that they can't worship god in that state? If I walked into a church wearing a dress it would be some serious disrespect, yet akina Jesus and they all wore dresses.

The church dress code is a man-made thing, not god made. If you think (like #### Cat) that god gave you great legs, then heck, show them off to him as you thank him for giving them to you... If you think you're most at ease in baggy jeans and sandals, I say go to church like that...

Is there any difference between dressing attractively, and dressing to attract?
Modesty does not mean dressing in an outdate and unattractive (smart) way BUT its all about self respect and rspecting others.

I beg to differ. Your inner thoughts are as important as your outside appearence. Your outward unveils what is from within your inside. Allow me to expound. If satjas for instance consumes edibles in form of Mangoes or any other consumables. It is only right to say that in the event that S/He developes health difficulties with his tummy then we are 100% likely to see his body puke out mangoes and not anything else he didn't take in.Apply this line of reasoning to the topic at hand.

A person cannot claim real victory until they have conquest over their own heart. The heart desires that which is pleasing. And what one does on the outside with their body is a direct prompt from the heart. Therefore the if the inner dress code is respectful then the the external physical looks are also respectful. It is with this fact that mind Christ emphasizes on the extreme change of heart. IF the heart is tamed to follow Christ then others are lead to see Christ on the his followers as opposed to seeing the world.

TM this is a good teaching you have initiated here. I hope our brother and sisters will contribute sanely.

God bless all
