Default Kenyan Buddhists? - 06-01-2005, 02:22 PM

I hear that a wonderful Buddhist Center has opened in Loresho, and they have just ordained their first Kenyan monk :) What's also nice is that they get an inter-denominational crowd now and again.
Any one here a Buddhist or know of someone back home who is?

Excellent,
I'm glad this is not confined to just the affluent and expats, which I was afraid would be the case. Thanks for the link! I'll definitely do more research

You are welcome.

BTW, from my 6yrs experience, living and travelling on China and Japan ...... I might have one or two things to say about Buddhism.

If you don't mind me asking, what your interest in Buddhism?

Soka Gakkai International is also in the US. Check out their wesbite: http://www.sgi-usa.org/

They have a meeting place that isn't too far from where I live.

Team Manager,
I'm intrigued by your travels :) I have visiting China as top on my agenda under MUST DO IN THE NEXT FIVE YEARS. Anyway, my mom is Buddhist, and while I do not consider myself a Buddhist, I am a student of Eastern philosophy. I don't have yet volumes of Deepak Chopra :) but I have read some texts that incorporate a lot of Buddhist principles that I found 'life altering.' I did not grow up in a religious household so my folks always encouraged us to explore. I've heard some of the Dalai Lama's speeches, and some of them 'click'. So I guess, in a nutshell, I'm still exploring and Eastern philosophy is my current interest :)
