Your DIET - any forbidden foods? -
05-26-2005, 12:42 AM
Apart from general hygiene and personal health, what determines WHAT you can and can not eat? Tradition, culture, religion etc?
What goes into a man's mouth does not make him 'unclean,' but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him 'unclean.' Mat 15:11

JC
>Unclean foods:
Why are they unclean? Is it a personal dislike or not-your-preference?
>Chicken's gizzard
Even when properly fried with onions, tomatoes and a pinch of roiko.
>Guinea fowl's head and feet
me too, lakini its cause of my family upbringing not any other concrete reason
>Lobster's tail
What is this?
I have lived in China (for 3yrs in the 90's) and now in Japan (slightly less than 3yrs).....my excuse for not eating dogs/cats etc is that 'I don't eat animals that eat flesh' and the excuse for not eating strange raw food in Japan is 'I like my food hot'.

one thing might be unclean to one but good for another.I think all is good as long as it does not do any harm to your body, doesnt nature a dependance and is consumed moderately.

(((What goes into a man's mouth does not make him 'unclean,' but what comes out of his mouth, that is what makes him 'unclean.' Mat 15:11)))
Forget 'unclean', what we eat can kill us! People in the west are being killed by what they consume. The biggest problem is the consumption of fatty foods, saturated fats etc. People (especially in USA) are offered larger meals for a low price, stupid people accept the offer and stuff themselves not realising that they are literally poisonning themselves.
"And the swine, because it divideth the hoof, yet cheweth not the cud, it is unclean unto you. Ye shall not eat of their flesh, nor touch their dead carcass. [Deuteronomy 14:8]
The Bible says that pork is "unclean" because of the reasons stated above. Pigs also don't have sweat glands, they have to be injected with a lot of antibiotics through feed and/or water to prevent diseases like trichionosis and tapeworms etc.
Apart from religion and culture, geography (animals found in the area) play a major role in the food that is consumed (or food that is shunned).

PIG!
I'm christian and all, but can't bring myself to eat pig. maybe its the way my parents brought us up, plus the thought tht pigs eat anything, i wonder if any amount of processing will kill all the stuff in their piggy flesh x(
People are often unreasonable, llogical and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.

Nyako koro in ikawo mana nyingi ema i splash ne ji e site ma wiye ji tungnie ni. Be i thoun ndi kata kamano.
I don't think so Achienge. Get down to deutronomy and find out the real state about consumables and none consumables. GOd has actually called the consumables Clean and the none consumables unclean.
