Coach: Well (attempting to humour sajtas since I assume he knows that NO ONE knows when the world will come to an end, not even the Prophets knew), I heard it's this Sunday, better take off to Mount Everest. Who knows, you might survive :)


sajtas has taken my attempt to humour him as an opportunity to bash Muslims and call them liars. Oh la la cherie! Am I suprised? ..naaah!

Ok so i did the next best thing......'if moohammad cannot go to the mountains the mountain shall come to him'....but guess what? that quake theory almost held true....mashada did have some network/server problems.....but all is well now.....normality resumes......then this dude tells us that even the prophets did not know the end of the world????.....all they had to do was ask God....they kept in touch didn't they? why would God want to keep secrets?........now we are in big trouble cos God ain't gonna send any more dudes to tell us Her secrets.....kinda like a long haul holiday for the last 1400 years....people should understand that........since things are much more better and civil now than in those times......we do not behead people anymore, no more stoning, no cluster bombs, so much love.....technology has improved but even then an email from God cannot be......why not? cos the angels have gone on hols with Her......but when One is accused of being a liar who is to be believed??

any other person outside the ummah ( brotherhood) is considered najis (filthy, unclean) in islam.......surely you don't expect coach to mingle with riff raff do ya???? But yeah.....when you did....what happened??? Guess we can say you can give us your 'mind blowing' experiences, or 'kill' us with laughter or ' murder' a story with us???.....only humour, your type!!

I worked as a makanga and remember how tough and up-close that job can be. You must help the lady from marikiti and put her gunias on the carrier. Rush hour was tough because the mathrees used to be so packed and the as a makanga you must bust through people packed like sardines and get to the back as you collect the fares. After the rush hour, you smell of perfumes, colognes, B-O and all other odours unimaginable to someone not familiar with the Nairobi rush hour. Now that's what I call up-close and personal :-)


Now back to informing you... Najis means unclean, period. Even Muslims are unclean at certain times of the day and cannot hold the Qur'an or pray while in this state. One is in the state of NAJIS...

- after copulation (on must wash the whole body (GHUSL) in order to be considered DAHIR, the opposite of NAJIS)

- during menstruation (women don't pray, read or recite the Qur'an)

- if one hasn't washed himself/herself after urinating or defecating

- if one has blood, pus, faeces, vomit etc on his/her clothes or body.

satjas, our dear agent provocateur, you seem to have it in for the ummah. Who's paying you? :)

Perfect example of an interesting experience: my friend Khadijah, Mwislamu, forced to sing Christian hymns and to say the Lord's Prayer in assembly every day throughout her primary school experience. She never complained about the experience, having chosen to attend a Catholic school, but I often wonder what she made of it.

And then of course, there are the overzealous ones who are so determined to convert everyone they meet to their brand of belief, that they end up trying to convert fellow Christian believers to Christianity, or fellow Muslim believers to Islam.... I met one of those last week. Still laughing at the dramatic conversation we 'shared'. (I listened, he talked.)

I attended a Catholic school too. I remember how every morning we'd recite ...Our father, who at in heaven... and the Hail Mary's full of grace, the Lord is with you...

Mass was on Thursday at 10 am, I knelt down with them out of respect (and also not wanting to stick out like a sore thumb, sitting while others knelt) but never tried the scarament.

I wonder how many non-Muslims have been inside a mosque and experienced the power of faith and prayer. I wonder how many can recite the FATIHA, THE OPENNING, a sura of the Qur'an. Or any chapter or verse of the Qur'an, either in Arabicor in English.
