Today on the history Channel they had a very interesting on UFO(unidentified flying objects) in the bible.

In the Old testament it is recorded that Prophet Elijah was taken to Heaven in a "flying chariot".... to Ezekiel talking about "wheels within wheels in the sky".

What if what the bible is talking about are examples of a an advanced civilization (UFOs) that the people at the time didnt understand but named them according to what they understood at the time?

Example. What if the flying Chariot that flew Elijah to heaven was actually a plane?... But because they people at the time had never seen a plane in their lives decideed to call it a flying chariot, as chariots were the common mode of transportation at the time.

What do you guys think?

I know, this might sound ridiculus to some of you but there is an element of truth to some of this things.

Do you remember a certain traditional Kalenjin religious guy who had a dream that predicted that "white" people will criss cross Kenya with a snake spewing smoke and fire?

What the guy was talking about was that white people will criss cross Africa in a train to colonize Africa. The guy didnt know what to call a machine like a "train", the only thing that he knew that resembled a train was a snake therefore he called the thing a "snake spewing smoke and fire"

Now take this scenario and apply it on Elijahs experience, whereby a chariot of flames came and flew him to heaven.

Point is that we tend to explain things according to what we know. Elijah and friends at the time had never seeen a plane or a mechanical flying machine before therefore they explained it according to the mode of transportation they knew at the time which was a chariot.

Mind you I am not questioning the validity of the biblical story, I am just raising the point that "maybe" elijah was taken up by a plane or something mechanical that resembled a chariot;)

I used to be a loyal radio listener of the Art bell talk show http://www.coasttocoastam.com/

This guy discusses some very strange but interesting things like UFO's, biblical stories, secret sects like the freemasons and covert US goverment operations.

Some of the guests and callers can be very peculiar, but if you are someone who loves to think outside the box then you will learn alot from Art bell and his wacko guests.

Unfortunately we Kenyans are not trained to think outside the norm. It has alot to do with our education system and society make up. In kenya we tend to be exposed to one dimension of anything.

Everything from books, radio to TV programmes tend to talk about the same things over and over again. No wonder anybody who brings up any new idea is frowned at.

Very sad.

@ Chameleon, I indeed feel you.

I have read and seen on TV some of those suggestions that some incidences in the bible are very akin to UFO invasion. Examples include, the chariots of fire which took up Elijah, Jesus' transfiguration etc. True, during those times, they could only explain things with the voculbulary they were familiar with.

Case in point, Norstrodamus. His predictions of recent day events and even future events is thought by many to be precise. However, his description of this events and things were made using the terminology and things known during his current day France. For example fighter jets used during WWII were described as large birds spewing black clouds etc.

Same applies to our own African prophets/wise men/foreseers who precisely described the advent of colonialists etc. They called trains, long snakes, spoke of men who carried fire in thier pockets (matchboxes) etc.

So who knows, maybe Elijah was indeed taken up by something resembling a UFO or a UFO, who knows?!

Cham, when will you ever learn to laugh? I know about Art Bell and his wacky show. I used to listen to him well into the wee hours of the morning. He and Clarke Howard whiled away many hours for me back when...Don't listen to him as often anymore unless I happen to catch him late night while travelling.

Chameleon leave and ignore the ding-bats in here who's thinking cannot escape outside their shallow brains. What you bring to my attention is interesting indeed...Where did Elijah go in the flying chariot. The biblos/codices, is full of observations and happenings that are to be understood by the elect. It is a book for the wise not for the ignorant. How else can the feeble mind grasp such concepts of God the father, Jesus the son and the holy spirit being one and the same? How can feeble minds grasp the concept of hell and damnation? They cannot;hence, the uprising of false teachings dwelling more on doom rather that sifting through the truth of the biblos with ever engaged mind. Keep your mind forever on the stars little ones, but let your eyes watch your step lest you stumble into the mire of deception.
