Default NIV & the Lord's prayer - 12-18-2003, 11:44 AM

@Onyango72,

Another expose in the Lord's prayer: "After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in eaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: FOR THINE IS THE KINGDOM, AND THE POWER, AND THE GLORY, FOR EVER. Amen. Matthew 6:9-13

Now read it in the Douay Bible and the NIV:

1. "And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. Amen" (Douay)

2. "And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. Amen" (NIV)

Note both NIV and Douay finish the Lord's prayer with evil! They both omit "Thine be the glory" etc Taking away God's glory and His word again.

@ Pebbles Nibbles

I'm not sure you are reading a correct NIV version of the bible because the NIV bible does not omit this portion of scripture as you claim. There is a footnote at the end of that chapter that includes that part you claim has been omit. I would suggest you buy a new copy of the NIV Version of the bible, preferrably at Study NIV bible and read through it. Nothing has been omitted in this version of the scriptures are you are so quick to claim. I have read the NIV Version from cover to cover for the last 3 years and nothing has been omitted. Take my advice and buy a copy and check it out.
