In answer to your questions: why do bad things happen to good people? why are babies born sick, and why do so many hard-working people never seem to get ahead? If God is good, why doesn't He prevent sadness and heartbreak? And if He is all-powerful, why doesn't He do something about evil and sickness? I invite you to prayerfully read: Patriarchs and Prophets. Your questions and many more are answered in this remarkable book and it has brought peace and hope to the millions who have read it throughout the world.

The one you are holding in your hand is one of the most remarkable books in the world. It traces the history of Christianity from the end of the apostolic period to the very end of the world. It traces the war between God and Satan in the lives of real people on this earth: some are heroes, some are villains. As in any war, to the victor go the spoils.

There are only two sides to this war. And only by understanding the full intent, purpose, and scope of this war is it possible to intelligently choose sides. The pointed truth in this book sweep away the confusion surrounding the two most critical factors of our choice process: conscience and judgment. I found that it clearly defines by principle and example the two types of character and nature available to each one. This unique book candidly reveals that our lives are under scrutiny from the age of accountability to the grave. It also, beautifully, weaves in the necessity for each one to experience the true spirit of love. I hope the pertinent and meaningful explanations of cause and effect so vividly portrayed in the book will help you in making your choice.

Pebbles:)

If you are still confused about the principle of theodicy (the justice of God in the light of human suffering) read the book of JOB. Very interesting read. For JOB and his likes (people who genuinely follow the word to the letter but are still faced with unfortunate circumstances like death, disease, poverty etc) the whole idea of turning to GOD can be an overwhelming enigma. If you closely look at the theme in JOB human suffering for the justificably righteous can only be explained in the light of "the accuser" or satan. In the book of Job, Satan approaches God and accuses JOB of being obedient to GOD only because he is materially blessed. God, seeking to silence him, lets him take away the material from Job as long as he does not harm him physically. Even when this is done and Job does not turn away from GOD the "accuser" justifies his position by stating that Job is in good health that is why he obeys God. So God allows him to afflict Job with painful diseases...I mean u can read the whole thing..thus the reasoning behind Job is that at the stake in the suffering of the truly godly is the outcome of philosophical struggles in heaven between Satan and God. ...

Petermau,

I beg to differ. I don't subscribe to the theology that we as Christians are in this world of trials and tribulations and that since we are just passing through we should vumilia until God gets here. I think that is a defeatist attitude.

Think about it, why would God waste his creative power to make such a complex being as a human being and place them in this land just to watch us do nothing till he comes back? Wouldn't it be easier if he made us and send us to heaven straight (he knows those of us who are going to heaven already, doesn't he?) I mean, he would have created us angels if our only and final mission was to go to heaven? Why did he place us on earth?

I think there is a reason he made us human beings and gave us dominion over the fish, birds, animals, plants etc. I believe its for the glory of his name as well as to watch us use his power in us. So people can look at us and say "Surely, see what God has done". In each of us is a potential that surpasses human understanding. However, most of us get so lazy and don't want to discover and make use of it. We sit around, wasting Gods' resources in us awaiting for the final day when we will join the angels. God must be groaning where he is watching his materpieces rot away!!

IN THIS WORLD THERE IS NOTHING PERFECT. GOD DOES NOT GIVE US PROBLEMS THAT WE CANNOT HANDLE. HE KNOWS OUR EVERY NEED AND HE KNOWS HOW MUCH WE CAN ENDURE.THAT IS WHY WHENEVER SOMEONE GOES THROUGH A DARK PATCH IN LIFE , ONCE IT IS OVER, ONE WONDERS HOW THEY GOT THROUGH. IT IS ALL COZ GOD WAS THERE.
WHENEVER YOU ARE HAVING WAOS GOD ALWAYS CARRIES YOU THROUGH AND WHEN HE KNOWS YOU WILL BE ABLE TO HANDLE A SITUATION, HE IS BY YOUR SIDE READY TO GUIDE YOU.
AMEN.
