Intersting....No doubt,the sabbath is Saturday..I would be really happy if all the churches worshipped on that day But unfortunately they don't.....The law was for the Jews.We are saved by grace and not by the keeping of the law...It would be good if we could keep them but we were not able..That is why we are to abound In Grace....

@Peter,

No, the Sabbath commandment (law) was not for the Jews! It's institution was right from the beginning in the garden of Eden. There were no Jews in existence at the time. If any of the laws of the ten commandments can be changed (I know none has changed and will not change) it implies that God is susceptible to error. The Lord is the same today, tomorrow and forever....the great Ancient of days. He changeth not. I know most churches are following their own ways but one who knows the truth as it is in the Bible should not follow the multitude to do evil in the sight of the Lord by disobeying His law. If it was for the Jews only, why then did Jesus keep the Sabbath all the way in the NT including His disciples. He would have told them to quit keeping the sabbath and I suppose another day of worship would have been instituted. But, we know that didn't happen. So, Saturday is the Sabbath and it is binding to all mankind and not only Jews!

Pebbles.

@ pnibbles
Well,
I agree that it was not for jews alone.. If we are to keep the law( and it is still the law for sure) Why stop with the sabbath..Moses had all those laws that Jesus Said will not pass away..You have to keep them all if that is the path to go..but..What then do you make Of Romans 3 and 4 .
Me I say ,and I think you agree,So long as the teaching is that salvation is only through believeing in Jesus' death,resurection and ascension just for our(all humans) sin ..and that we get eternal life after that...it is all good..

@pebbles,

It is interesting to note the the sabbath is part of the 10 commandments given to Moses on Mount sinai. The 10 commandments are still binding on all who follow Christ. However, they are but a mirror that reflect the nature of man, ie that man is sinful and in need of a savior. The law on its own cannot justify a person. This is clearly stated in Romans 3:19-20.

"Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. Therefore no one will be declared righteous in his sight by observing the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of sin".

Furthermore, the apostle Paul says that a man is justified not by observing the Law but by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 3:28, "For we maintain that a man is justified by faith apart from observing the law". This is the reason Jesus said, "The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath".

There is not a person on the face of the earth that can keep all 10 of the commandments all the time. "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God". In fact the Jews tried to even harder to kill Jesus because he was 'BREAKING' the sabbath. John 5:18. The scriptures also says in James 2:10 "For whoever keeps the whole law and yet stumbles at just one point is guilty of breaking all of it." Granted every single human being breaks the 10 commandments everyday, not just the one about keeping the sabbath. People kill, steal, take the Lord's name in vain, envy and covet their neighbors goods etc etc. The point I'm making is this, by observing the law you will never be justified. You can only be justified by faith through Jesus Christ. Romans 3:21-22.

A question for Pebbles-Nibbles from her reply above:

>>>>There were no Jews in existence at the time.

Were Adam and Eve Jews? I'd have thought they were as they (Jews) have always been God's chosen people (according to the Bible) and I don't see why God would create a Hindu or Muslim first...
