In Mathew 24, our Lord in answer to a question from his disciples about the Day of His return gives us prophecy on various events that would occur prior to His return.

One thing we should clearly distinguish is the purpose of Prophecy. Too many people believe that prophecy exists to tell us what will happen in the future. This is a very wrong and erroneous view. The purpose of prophecy is two-fold;
a) To let us know at what stage or piece of a jigsaw puzzle we are in God's eternal plan
b) To remind us that God is still in control

The jigsaw puzzle in God's eternal plan that I like to pose to you today is based on a combination of three events Mathew 24: 6-8, the September 11 attacks and the forthcoming Gulf War 2: Sadaam Origino vs Bush II.

(Mat 24:6) You are going to hear of wars and rumors of wars. See to it that you are not alarmed. These things must take place, but the end hasn't come yet.

(Mat 24:7) For nation will rise up in arms against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be famines and earthquakes in various places.

(Mat 24:8) But all these things are only the beginning of the birth pains

To many people the September 11 2001 attacks in the US were prophesied in the Bible and this is both true and false. True in the extent of Mathew 24 in terms of an extraordinary increase in lawlessness in the world and false in that it justifies the American Christian belief that somehow the US features in end time prophecy.

If you study prophecy as given in Daniel 2 and 7 you will observe that the final world power shall arise out of old Roman Empire which is evident today as the EU. The recent growth of the EU from a trade association into a political machine with its own army and most importantly, a single currency has happened right before our eyes and in our lifetime.

But the EU is right now not the world power because the US is and according to prophecy the EU must become the world power in order for another piece to fall in place in the end of this age jigsaw puzzle. So how will this happen?

We have to go back to September 11th 2001.

On September 10th 2001, George W. Bush and the US were all isolationists, star wars and domestic economy concerned. The rest of the world didn't exist and they could have cared less. By the end of the next day, George W. Bush and the US were in a different reality.

Now I will go into giving my own observation of what really is happening with this particular jigsaw puzzle. This is my personal observation and understanding of current events and at this juncture would welcome any queries, insights or challenges you may have;


That the spirit of lawlessness is alive and present is evidenced by the September 11th attacks. But the real prophetic significance of these attacks lies in the US reaction to them. It is not a coincidence that the most incapable president ever in US history just happens to be in office at this time. George W. Bush has reacted to September in the most illogical manner. In reaction to September 11th he first started out with The War On Terror; a real American movie complete with Afghanistan special effects. Then right in the middle of this, he has started out a Gulf War sequel. Completely amazing is the current call for him to justify his planned war, which he has tried to but can't.
Make no mistake about it, there is going to be a Gulf War II BUT things will not go according to George W. Bush's plans. He might win the military war but politically the US will cease to be the dominant world power. Alternatively he might bow down to pressure and not fight but whichever way he turns from now, the gradual decline of the US political clout in global affairs is rapidly going to happen over the next few years.

With this decline in political power, the natural successor to world dominance is the EU with its growing political, economical and military power. Do not be surprised to hear the current proposals for a president of the EU becomes a reality. This by itself is another piece in the jigsaw puzzle called God's eternal plan.

Prophecy, (fortelling)....is the fortelling of the future things that are not. It is fortelling, depending what time in history you are living. For those of us who lived through 9-11, it is prophesy fulfilled, whereas those who lived in Daniels time, it is prophesy foretold. Take for instance the prophet Daniel. You are now are experiencing or living through the prophecies he foretold because we did not live in his time in history. The prophecies he foretold are revealed in the book of Revelation. I do, however, agree with you that prophesy does reveal to us what part we play in the Lord's eternal plan of salvation and that He is in control.

Your opinion regarding EU is an opinion just as you've stated. Europe, has tried throughout history to unite but has failed through political marriage alliance, monetary union (Britain will not cede it's monetary power value to EU), and otherwise. It shall never cleave together as the Bible states; it is like mixing clay and iron as presented in the image that Daniel saw in his dream.

Yes, a European nation will assume power after the declention of the Eagle's political prowess. That power will be Rome and it's cohorts. Just like it installed Hitler as a puppet, it will do so again and oppress to the maximum those who will attempt to oppose it.:P The ensuing events after 9-11 will be so rapid we'll have no time to even say 9-11. Watch and pray, is my counsel.
