Foreign Evangelists Ripping millions from African Christians

Is it Leaping or Ripping??

I recently attended a Benny Hinn Conference, Dominion 2002, for my first time. The guy is a polite speaker and seemed unique according to me.

He performed "miracles" where people with arthritis, skin diseases, and another one who testified that she swallowed a goitre which has disturbed her for 10 years.

There were strong guys infront, who were equivalent to Jerry Springer's or Maury's bouncers; who were holding people as they fall, and restraining the zealous ones from surging to the alter.

Generally, the ecstatic mood filled the World Harvest Center, where people in the spill over Hall were more than those in the main church.

Benny Hinn said that he talked to Reinhard Bonke, his friend, and they agreed that he, Benny Hinn, should give Africa to Bonke to preach there.

He quoted the story about Paul who was sent to Damascus to preach, but God didn't want him to go there.......

He said that in a recent 9 days Bonke crusade in Nigeria, 9 million people got "saved." He said that was evidence from "salvation cards"

He also told the ecstatic crowd that in those 9 days Bonke's meetings, a Nigerian who was dead for three days was brought back to life??? He was brought in the crusade in a casket.

He said he wanted him to be in that meeting, Dominion 2002, to testify to people about how he was "revived" from death, and what he saw in 'Hell/Heaven?"

Hinn said the man was denied a visa by U.S. Embassy.

Benny Hinn said the man saw a preacher in Hell.

The story went................

But are these Evangelists really helping Africans Spiritually or just ripping them off money?

One person in Kenya suggested that a Miracle Verification Center should be set up, so that when people are healed through miracles, some verification can be done.

Last time Benny Hinn was in Kenya, April 1999 or 2000, by his 50 persons personal jet, the money that was collected during his Uhuru Park meeting, was counted in two days.

It came from wealthy and poor christians including businessmen who wanted their businesses blessed.

If Benny Hinn wanted to heal people, why couldn't he go to Kenyatta National Hospital to do that?

To cut my story short, it is better for African Christians to know what Christianity is all about, and consider going back to their awesome religious ways which were devoid all this religious commercialisation.

Also when Africans Preachers like Wairimu Nelson, come to preach in America, they don't get such huge crowds, apart from her own fellow Kenyans.

Though people are always in thirst of religion, let us, we Africans, get a better way to quench it.

These con artists better count their money now for days are coming when their presence in Kenya will be shortened with nothing less than the bullet all criminals of their nature deserve. And let us see them recover from the shot, regenerate themselves and hold the bullet aloft for all to see the "miracle".

They all know that fertile landscapes of ignorance are quickly running out and Africa is amongst the last few goldmine of ignorant and impressionable minds who open their "hearts" and "wallets" to "god" and Bonke respectively.

I look forward to the day I shall make one of these frauds wear sheepskin and walk the Serengeti and Mara preaching for 40 days to the wilderness and the lions. Deceitful buggers!

@Proletariat- Was this the one in Australia? You mentioned the Maori so i'm curious.
I saw him in the news when he was here and was appalled to see that most people were swooning and acting like he was God. The news also mentioned that he raked in $200 million the yr b'4. I must admit, he is good at his game.

That was some funny shiit. Personally I have never believed in all these miracles they proclaim to have done. Just another way to hogwash Africans to fall for their religion.

At least they have made up their minds that they are going to make the most out of their corruption anyways. I don't see the need of being a lying, promiscous pastor in the middle of a village nowhere, riding a bicycle. Afadhali Benny Hinn who is rollin in the Benjis and personal learjets. I mean, if there is a fate to befall them they will all be guilty of one and the same thing.

there`z nuthin new under the sun...the same reason the missionariez kame....is the same Agenda these so-kalled "preacherz" have...9-million in 9 dayz??pple komin bac 2 life n #####..if any-thin I won`t be surprised if mo of similar scenarioz keep poppin up with as tyme drips...and powerz get desperate...knowin it`s already too late...tried but kouldn`t re-kreate....for truth has no impersonate..ha ha I got karried away kidogo...........................................

Well This is the way that I look at it. People who go to those Crusades have a personal gain or motivation to do so. They are not there to enrich the Crusader (Benny Hinn, R. Bonnke, Wairimu or whoever else). They are there so that they will receive spiritual, physical,emotional or personal benefit from God throught the faith of that person's prayer. Remember, Faith comes from the hearing of the Word and in this case also through whom it comes. Each crusader has a special gift through their own faith to be able to reach out and make it happen for others. You could be the next 'Benny Hinn' - who knows??

The bottom line is People have a choice. They don't have to give. They just give. They like to and they want to! There are scores of people who walk away without giving anything in the same meetings. You may have noticed a lot of them just leeting the buckets pass by. There are no ushers pressuring them to do so. It's a free will optiona and conviction to do so. Much like no one forces anyone to smoke or drink - it is a choice they make. So if people want to clean up their lives and they appreciate all that by a small token of offering - hey, what difference does it make. Atleast, the world overall becomes a better place to live in!!!

Also according to statistics, when compared with the Vatican, Mecca and all the other religious shrines, these folks are no comparison. It's just that they are more exposed through these Crusades getting media attention. Moreover, they put in so much more than they receive.

I'm just looking at the other side of this coin, standing behind the counter....

There are three kinds of businesses that flourish very well in Kenya and most third World countries.

One is a Church, a Bar and an NGO. This are the kind of businesses that do very well where there is acute poverty and ignorance.

Why is it that this evangelists always go to the third world to preach? How come they never preach to their own people? Is it because we are more sinful, or is it because they know that they will make more money by taking advantage of our ignorance and a thirst of change?

This are the kind of questions that Kenyan Christians should ask themselves. They should question the point of spending thousands of dollars importing a foreign preacher when the same Job can be done by native/local preacher.

They should ask themselves why their Church, even after giving it money for many years doesnt have a single charity programme e.g Soup Kitchen, Food bank or an Aids Programme to help its followers.

The point is this, there are alot of Evangelists and church leaders whose mission is to make as much money as possible at the expense of the congregation.
