which is the right church? -
03-28-2002, 06:21 AM
ive been a catholic since i was born . now im not sure i am as commited as i was. i suppose this is due to the religion that i went to when i was at school (pcea) i did enjoy the songs and the preaching to me there was no major difference except being saved every sunday and going back for a week and getting saved again. when i went to high school and had to do all the cathliclic stuff i started to question myself . is this right? am i worshipping God the way he wants me to? what if i choose to go to all churches and worship him everywhere and anywhere would that be a big problem? the major problem is i may never get married in a church. so which is the right church and what makes it so right?

The right church is the only church that was established by Christ 2000 years ago, which he entrusted our souls to, gave the keys to the kingdom of heaven and gave the authority to teach and preserve the truth as was handed over by the apostles. Of course I am talking about the Holy Catholic and apostolic Church, that acknowledges one baptism for the forgiveness of sins and has the power through Christ to forgive sins and bind things here on earth as well as in heaven as guranteed by Christ himself. The power of hell will not over power this Church since Christ is the head and the church is the body of Christ and all of us who are faithful followers are the members of the body of Christ.

You will believe what you want to believe in. Sometimes its just good to let things flow because you can choose to believe in something so strongly and then at a later time find some fault in it and that means you have to start all over again believing in something else. You can totally lose yourself if you become a fanatic.
Peace.

halfloaf,
There is no such thing as the right church. Christianity is full of different denominations because of the reformation period of history started by Martin Luther. Despite that fact, their are alot of wonderful Churches all over the world. I think that if you are a true follower of Jesus Christ, he is able to lead you to a bible believing, teaching, Christ honoring Church.
In today's world the emphasis is placed on religion ..... as in what religion are you? Are you Catholic, Baptist, Methodist, etc etc. I believe that this emphasis misplaced. As a follower of Christ, I am more interested in a relationship with Christ as opposed to religion. The question you should ask yourself is "DO YOU HAVE A PERSONAL RELATIONSHIP WITH JESUS CHRIST". If you do, then that is awesome, if not find someone to tell you how you can begin a personal relationship with him. Remember religion is man's attempt to get to heaven. What you need is a relationship with the mediator between God and man. That person is the Lord Jesus Christ.

Of course there is such a thing as the right church. That has to be the church founded by Jesus Christ himself. He founded his church by gathering apostoles, who he gave the full power of authority he had from the father, which is indicated in the words of the Gospel: " Amen, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven" (Matthew 18:18).
Catholic church is unique in that its founder is our Lord and saviour. Christ gave to the Church the task of proclaiming his Good news and promised us his Spirit, who guides us "to all truth" (John 16:13). That mandate and that promise guarantee that the Church will never fall away from Christ's teaching. Jesus's words are "And so I say to you , you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it" Matt 16:18. Peter is visible representative of Jesus, who is the foundation of the church. Jesus' founding of the Church was completed with the sending of the Holy Spirit. Since then the Church has shown itself to be a divine-human reality, a combination of the Spirit working and the people striving, in their human way, to co-operate with the gift of his presence and Christ's gospel.

The right Church teaches what Jesus taught. It also believes in Jesus Christ as the Only begotten son of the Father sent to the world to save sinners. By the death of Christ on the cross, he forever paid the debt we owed having sinned against God. If we acknowledge Jesus Christ as comming from the Father and believe in His words, we shall be saved.
There are many denomanations but they are not the ticket to Gods' Kingdom. Some of them teach contrary to the bible, leading some astray. God is the creator, author and finisher of our salvation. Our participation in this matter only clouds the picture and negates what God wishes to do in our lives. That is why we keep on trying and ever failing. In our own effort we will never get to God.
It is written, "There is none righeous, no, not one" Romans 3:10
Again "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;" Romans 3:23
"This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptaion, that Christ Jesus Came into the world to save siners." I Timothy 1:15a
Christ died to pay for our sin.
"But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripe we are healed." Isiah 53:5
Read Romans 5: 8&9
The voice you need to hear is the voice of Jesus.
"My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand." John 10:27 & 28.
But if we insist on our own way and method we will surely perish
"I tell you, Nay: but except ye repent, yet shall all likewise perish." Luke 13:3
What you do with the words Jesus spoke and taught, will determine where you reside in eternity. Do not miss the chance to ask God for guidence in this matter. Ask him to save you and God will do so.
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only begotten Son; that whomsoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have eternal life.
Set you heart right with God. Then he will lead you to the to himself. Which church you attend after that, the Lord will provide.

I agree 100% with what Bro. Onyango said, I couldn't have said it better myself. "HAVING A RELATIONSHIP WITH CHRIST IS WHAT IS IMPORTANT".
AMEN!
