Default thank God for unanswered prayers? - 12-20-2001, 02:19 PM

Just the other night a hometown football game
My wife nd I ran into my old high school flame
And as I introduced them the past came back to me
And I couldn't help but think of the way things used to be

She was the one that I'd wanted for all times
And each night I'd spend prayin' that God would make her mine
And if he'd only grant me this wish I wished back then
I'd never ask for anything again

Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers
Remember when you're talkin' to the man upstairs
That just because he doesn't answer doesn't mean he don't care
Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers

She wasn't quite the angel that I remembered in my dreams
And I could tell that time had changed me
Inn her eyes too it seemed
We tried to talk about the old days
There wasn't much we could recall
I guess the Lord knows what he's doin' after all

And as she walked away and I looked at my wife
And then and there I thankedd the good Lord
For the gifts in my life

Sometimes I thank God for unanswered prayers
Remember when you're talkin' to the man upstairs
That just because he may not answer doesn't mean he don't care
Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers

Some of God's greatest gifts are all too often unanswered...
Some of God's greatest gifts are unanswered prayers

i heard this song on the radio yesterday and it got me thinking of the unanswered prayers in my life that actually turned out to be a blessing...im sure we all have those...lets hear some...

Default Why the Prayers Go Unanswered - 12-22-2001, 08:28 AM

Prayers go unanswered because there is no one to answer them. It's like making a phone call to a non-existent number.

Prayers go unanswered if you are the type that prays every second disturbing God with minor issues like ooh...its cold..can you make the sun shine? Or give me that extra few bucks so that I can buy both the blue and red nailpolish. If you save real pestering prayers for big issues they will all be answered because God will go like...dang! They never ask me for anything. They must really need it! LOL.

Default Answered Prayers = Coincidence - 12-22-2001, 06:31 PM

Vicki,
If you pray for something and it happens that's just coincidence. Here's How Christians justify the prayer issue:

1. If you ask for something and it does not happen, they say that God has other plans for you, and that He works in mysterious ways

2. If your request comes through, they are quick to state that God answered your prayers.

I've got to hand it to Christians for covering all the bases.

I see your point mwananchi and I wont argue with you on that. What I'd like to know is how you think the existence of mankind came to be, do you believe in a higher deity that has control over all that is seen and unseen. I know that most of us are christians or believe in some god because that is what we were fed on since we knew ourselves. But that's besides the point, my question is, where do you think we came from? What prompted our existence?
