JEWS VS CHRISTIANS

I need some help. I am in a Religion class and I am supposed to write a paper on the differences between Christians and Jews. Can somebody give me a few differences between the two. I am a christian, but I dont really understand the jewish religion as well as I should to write this paper. I could uses some on line sources as well if you can lead me in the right direction.

I would like to help but I am currently severely limited by three things:

(i) I am not sure what the Jewish religion stands for. Could it be that you speak of Judaism?

(ii) I am very tired at the moment.

(iii) As a young scholar, of Kenyan origin I hope, I would urge you to show more diligence than this. I assume your teacher would not assign a paper topic that is not covered by the reading materials assigned for the course i.e. certain chapters in the book, course packets , newspaper articles etc.

I am personally against helping people for the sake of helping them without them learning something.

Now maybe you wanna go back to your assigned readings and see if the material covers the topic in question and if you still can't make head or tail of it maybe then we can come up with the necessary resources for your reference.

Otherwise, pull up your socks and apply that brain. Maybe you want to read a few articles online on Mungiki and see what their religous beliefs are and then use the differences btw. that and Christianity as the basis for your examination of the differences btw. Judaism and Christianity. e.g Do Mungiki believe in one God or many-How about christians? What are the reasons NCCK has spoken out against Mungiki--Are those same differences found Judaic beliefs? How do these people communicate with their Gods? etc etc

I have a jewish friend and there some few things that she has told me............

1. That the Jewish don' believe in the New Testament.... as in their bible doesn' compromise of the New Testament while the Christian one does ofcourse.

2. That they don' believe in Jesus just like the Muslims do........They don' believe that he was the last prophet and also they don' believe he was one of the descendants of David........

3. They celebrate New year way before we Christian do........Am not really sure whats their New Years date is, but its sometimes in September or Early October........

4. And of course they don' believe in Chrismas like we Christians do, since they don' believe in Jesus...........

I've kinda forgetten some right now.......but I will try and get more for ya....Hopefully.... though I ain' promising!!!

Well thier New Year's lies around Sept 18th......
And their Holy Book is called the Torah which I bet you already know......
They also believe in the Passover......but not the same way the Christians believe in Passover.....

Do this buddy......Since you wanna make the best score out of all this.....why don' you search more of this stuff using one of your favourite search engines on the net. I bet you will get more info....

First of all I want to thank all of you who responded to my questions. Also, I am not trying to cheat at this without doing any work. The professor does a very poor job of teaching this course, and I am not understanding the readings in the book. I guess what I was really asking for is an explination of the religion in idiot terms. But I appriciate your concern.

I have found that surfing the web works like magik. There are several places you can start.....

1. askjeeves.com
2. brittannia.com

these are search engines that you can use to search for related sites. try using "Judaism" or "Jews" as key words.

Hope this helps and remember when a teacher is doing a poor job teaching materil, research, research, reasearch! That way, u learn more, and u have a wider variety of sources to write ur paper!

I'm inclined to agree with MTT here that without due diligence, you accomplish nothing, by asking us to explain if I may use your words "in idiot terms'.You can read, have the necessary resources online and in libraries. The least you can do is tell us what you've read regarding both and what you're having trouble understanding. Blaming the teacher won't do unfortunately, gone are the days of a spoon fed education.

Think education is expensive, try ignorance.

just a quick repply to kysha.. muslims believe in jesus as much as they believe in moses, the concept of jesus in the bible is misinterprated in search diveristy the true identity of jesus christ is not known in the bible..am not trying to bam on anyone's faith.. but wat suprises me is that..the xtians accepts the old tastament and claim the whole bible (old n new T) to be the word of God, but once a contradiction is found in old T..a xtians will point a finger to a jew.. why accept it if yu wont be liable to it.. my point is.. the islamic faith has clearly and openily accepted all the prophets sent down by God..and there pillars of faith.. is to believe in prophets.. not only mohamed but all... in advance to this i'll urge yu all to have access to the koran and rub off the ignorance we facing..

what I mean is, I know Muslims do believe in jesus, but not in the same prospect the Christians do. Thats why I said that. Otherwise, You don' sound annoying at all!!!
