Default What is Pentecost?    Show Printable Version  Print   Email this Page  Email

Its pentecost day today(31.05.09) exactly 50 days after the ressurection of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. It is celebrated fifty days after Easter.Pentecost is the day that God poured out His Holy Spirit on Christ's disciples, the Season after Pentecost is centered on sanctification, the work of the Holy Spirit in the day to day life of the Christian.

God goes beyond just assisting those who serve Him. He inspires and leads them through His Spirit. Paul wrote, "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God" (Romans 8:14). And Peter explained that "holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit" (2 Peter 1:21).

It is clear from the passage you quoted, that God and Holy Spirit are not same.

Muhammad, by your questions and screen name I assume you are Muslim. I know a bit of what Muslims believe but I'm sure you can help me understand more.

Concerning Allah, does your belief accept that he empowers his followers, like the Holy Spirit, to boldly proclaim his truth?

Do you (or other Muslims) feel personally close to Allah, or is that considered blasphemy that a mere human could have a personal relationship with the Creator?

i hope this other verse will open your eyes mohammad, john 1:12 but as many as received him, to them he gave the right to become children of god, even to those who believe in his name.it was a prophesy of hosea fullfiled. hosea 1:10 yet the number of the sons of israel will be like the sand of the sea, which cannot be measured or numbered; and in the place where it is said to them, "you are not my people," it will be said to them, "you are the sons of the living god." in simple terms mohammad, adoption is the term the apostle paul uses to describe the act of the holy spirit whereby the believing sinner becomes a member of god’s family, with all the privileges and obligations of family members. Because jesus christ paid the penalty of our sin debt in full, nothing stands in the way of a just god regenerating a believing sinner and placing him as his child in his family. The holy spirit as “the spirit of adoption” also places a saved sinner in a legal standing in god’s family. The adopted son has all the rights and privileges of god’s only begotten son. God the father loves the adopted child just as much as he loves his only begotten son. We were “children of wrath” by nature (eph. 2:3). However, those upon whom god bestows his saving grace become the “children of god.”

if approach the idea of trinity with a closed mind ,limited to human factors then you cannot understand a thing.do you think its impossible for god to be in heaven,on earth as jesus and as holy spirit for the church? mark 10:27 and jesus looking upon them saith, with men it is impossible, but not with god: for with god all things are possible.

Why did he wait for 50 Days? What's the symbolism of 50? Why not 4 days? Or 23 days?

Should one listen your words or the Bible? because this is what the Bible says:
Deuteronomy 24:16: "The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin."
Jeremiah 31:30: "But every one shall die for his own iniquity ..."
Ezekiel 18:20: "The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son. The righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him."

Am sure you would be asking the same if he picked 4 or 23...I think he just chose 50. Just the way he would pick 4.

The point you are missing is that the way the law operated on man changed in a twinkle of an eye the moment Jesus was crucified at calvary. The verses you have quoted were the systems in place before the death and ressurection of Jesus Christ. That is why he declared "it is done,i am the alfa and omega.."

Jesus decared that if you believe in him ,you believe in God.So as christians we believe that God and Jesus are one.

And Jesus cried out and said, "He who believes in Me does not believe in Me, but in Him who sent Me. And he who beholds Me beholds the One who sent Me. I have come as light into the world, that everyone who believes in Me may not remain in darkness." (John 12:44-46)

Why did God allow Jesus to be worshiped yet he said that none is to be worshiped but him?The answer again is right there,God approved Jesus, because he was human being with the spirit of God inside him.Check this out:

"Men of Israel, hear these words! Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved by God to you by mighty works and wonders and signs which God did by him in the midst of you, even as you yourselves know, him, being delivered up by the determined counsel and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by the hand of lawless men, crucified and killed; whom God raised up, having freed him from the agony of death, because it was not possible that he should be held by it. (Acts 2:22-24

"All that the Father gives Me shall come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will certainly not cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that of all that He has given Me I lose nothing, but raise it up on the last day. For this is the will of My Father, that everyone who beholds the Son and believes in Him, may have eternal life; and I Myself will raise him up on the last day." (John 6:37-40)

I have no idea why it tok 50 days btn ressurection and pouring of the holy spirit. We serve a God who is a master planner, and he does things according to his appointed time.

It was also thought that the 50 days had significance in that it matched in sequence with number of days in the first covenant which was given by Moses.

The great feast of the Jewish Pentecost is kept in remembrance of the giving of the Law to Moses at Mount Sinai, 50 days after the liberation of the slavery from Egypt (the Passover). On that day God gave Moses the Ten Commandments engraved with fire on stones, among the roaring sounds of nature, making the Covenant with the People of God (Ex.19,20, Lev.23).

Likewise;

The great feast of the "Christian Pentecost", after Acts 2, is celebrated on a Sunday, 50 days after the Resurrection of Christ, when God engraved his Commandments not on stone, but in the heart of each Christian by the power of the Holy Spirit, among roaring winds and tongues of fire, as prophesied by Joel and Jeremiah, starting officially the Church of Christ (Act.2, Joel 2:28-32, Jer.31:33-34, Heb.8:8-12).

You didnt answer the question "Where did Jesus said that I am a God worship me"?
Secondly, all verses you quoted are against you

"Him who sent me" meaning God and Jesus are not one!
"The One who sent me" meaning God is One! not three, has no partners! how could you miss this?

"A man approved by God" do I need to say more?!

Jesus said (according to the Bible) that God is not only his Father but also your Father (Matthew 5:45, 48). "That ye may be the children of your Father" and "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect".
So what?
