some women refuse, mami. and then they are forced. or the man goes to look for sex elsewhere.
not only do these early pregnancies endanger the life of the newborn. they also endanger the life of the subsequent babies. babies conceived kabla the mum has a chance to recover tend to be more stunted, sickly, less healthy.
and fo sho the pregnancy also endangers the mum's life, makes her body weak. some of these ladies die in childbirth.

me i don't know if it is ignorance or selfishness or maybe both. all i know is if you try talking to many men about this, they'll grumble about the evils of feminism and about their conjugal rights. kuna wachache tu who'll give the topic serious consideration.
anyway, it's a hard call. but i say if the woman knows better and if she is able, she should make the choice. some of these decisions about your health and your babies' health should not be left to someone else.

Who says she can't be on family planning until the baby is weaned? As many options as there are out there, birth control is available and she can discuss her options with her doctor and significant other. The responsibility of family planning should rest on both parties. After-all, a reversible vasectomy is still an option....

Some men have no consideration for women, but on the other hand a woman can protect herself, she does not have to be turned into a baby manufacturing factory, while the man cannot even asisst in sharing that pain at time of labour.

Be careful who you marry and know him inside out, that way, you'll avoid situations like these. A man who is inconsiderate...well, just avoid men like these.

sugarplum,
family planning is a wonderful option as long as it doesn't involve the woman mezaing pills. she'd produce low quality milk, not forgetting the kawaida side effects on her own health.
do you know any married men who would gladly agree to use a condom with their wives, or to a vasectomy? they're not many. these things can be a struggle. politics za married life ni kazi. not all husbands and wives are equals.

correct me if I'm wrong here...but I seem to recall reading somewhere that a woman will not ovulate as long as she is breast-feeding??

As for husbands and men..I would say take care of your wife and dont be selfish and endanger her health...

but here we assume that its always the man demanding for sex...in analogy, women have been known to ask "eh? so who is cooking for you these days?" because the guy did not eat the dish prepared for him...I dare say if a man abstained voluntarily the same question would arise..

so women also should not feel that if they dont sleep with their huzzys then the guy will sleep with someone else..because I feel this is why they agree to sex at this wrong time....and sometimes even initiate (to pre-empt any such occurring)

chemical monitors the reproductive health of his animals closely(as he can)...why should he do any different for a wife who would be worth more than all of them put together

@Al Zalzalah
Very true. My point was mainly on the birth control option that may be available to her. The vasectomy was a last resort and lesser of the evil of having assembly line pregnancies.

@ Poster
One birth control option that I believe would be best in this situation (keep in mind I'm not a clinician yet) is getting an Intra-uterine device put in. This could be the 5 year Mirena or 10-year copper one. Both can be removed at ANY time and are over 99% effective. The 10 yr one has no hormones so it's best for a lactating Mom. Both partners have to be monogomous because of the risk of pelvic inflammation disease. Any further questions beyond this, just send me a pm and I'll be happy to share what I know.
