Default Best cook in the world - 02-22-2006, 04:46 PM

Okay. I'm on a venting roll today. Or ranting. Take your pick.
I was invited to dinner at my pal's. A welcome break from campus and hotel food, right? So the mama is married to a big baller, so she stays home and he brings home the bacon.
So, maybe I'm spoiled coz I grew up where an entire friday was spent kandaing chapos, or we peeled potatoes and made fries from scratch. Or we baked a cake yaani from the flour to mixing the baking powder ratios. Yaani we soaked beans and picked peas...
Anyway, this mathe, she gets a bucket of chicken from KFC. Frozen enchiladhas from costco, betty crocker and we eat. It's all good and all. Then people start talking about how she is a marvelous cook coz she made sucha great meal for us. "my mother is the best cook, look at this meal'. I'm sitting there, trying not to roll my eyes. Saying, "yes, you cooked so well". Now, their house is the kind where there is an open kitchen. It's not ati you can't see what is going on in the kitchen. We all saw the KFC bucket and the lean cuisine or whatever. However, I dont wanna say anything about anyone's momma so I sit and smile and rave about her "cooking" skills (microwave and drive thru proficiency).
I guess I'm evil, huh? By all means I understand the convenience of convenience food, but don't pretend you are chef extraordinaire. Someday I'll b too tired to humor you
Life's not a garden so don't be a hoe

At times you have a way of tickling me with very good stories. I must admit that was funny to me. Your boyfriend must be finding you quite interesting. Bring more rants!

Lool
I wont be so quick to diss the "fake cook" lol....was guilty of that crime once . Got some good food from a restaurant, pots of boiling water all around, frying random onions ...n frying garlic ovyo ovyo, chasing peeps out of the kitchen saying, "I got this..go watch tv or something". Then Baaaaaaaaam, some finger licking heavenly food, Peeps are not only licking but chewing their fingers. lolz. Not that I cant cook............lets just say I was eager to please, after one of my gfs had once found me making noodles (those tu fake ones that come in a bowl lol), n she came to some weird conclusion that i cudnt cook, hence the noodles (she's ghanian, noodles just dont make the cut). N yes, so i resorted to the restaurant trick damnit.
