I have enjoyed reading all the contributions on this. I would think bottom line is why you are in the r/ship and how you feel about it, where you want it to go, and the trust in it. I believe it can either work or not, and that choice is entirely between you two, coz if you love each other and are committed enough, oh, ya will do great. I am in a long distance r/ship too and as far as it goes, it is working great. Of course some days ya wish for each other and some nights are so very looonely....but ya know you are not apart forever and you are working out a way to be together in a near future. How long are ya going to be apart? I think there should be a sense of indpedence too in this kind of decision, like you dont necessarily have to move coz he's moving, despite the love, sometimes it helps to take time to think things over. But one thing is sure, some days will be just plain miserable and lonely and suck so bad you will wonder if you are really doing the right thing.....

Shee, I won't lie to you. LD's are hard and can drive you nuts. One thing that is certain is that it all depends on the two pple in Q. I was in one and it crushed big time. Lakini that was as of that situation. Now I am in a different one, still a LD r/ship, and it is blossoming too well to believe it. It all depends on both parties and what you have for each other.

You get into it, try it out and if it doesn't work then you let it go. If it works then give it your all. Basically there is no pattern in this things. You either make it, ama you fail. If you fail, learn from your experiences and go on. It turns out to be a very good way of testing your love, if either of you walks out of the others life over this kinda thing then know it was bound to occur at one time or another. Whatever the case, accept it and move on to the next level.

I am in a long-distant relationship myself, and one thing that I can say, is that if you are ready and willing to trust and commit, then there is no problem. My b/f and I talked it out, because this is a first for us, and we both decided that we wanted to commit and give it a shot, and I must say, surprising as it is, we are both doing great.
Many people find it a hard thing to do, but for relationships to work, regardless of whether they are long-distance or close, there must me trust and willingness to commit.
But if you find it hard to handle, then you two should talk about it and decide on what you want. In the long run, just follow what your heart tells you.

My advise is you better starting looking else where coz this arrangement sure as hell don't last long! I mean, the guy ain't married to you and therefore no major commitment on his part, so what should stop him from seeing someone else while out there and especially in the event he falls down hard for whoever (you know how men be tripping and sheit)

Keeping it real ma peoples, keeping it real!

Factors to be considered....
1. How do you define relationship?
Close friends, sex partner, soulmate, fiance?

2. How long will you be separated?
A few months, years, decades?

3. How far is the distance?
Across cities, states, continents?

4. Are you willing to wait?

5. How old are you and him/her?
If you are below 21, don't put yourself on lock
down like that ;)

6. How long were you together before the
separation?

7. Is the relationship worth preserving?
No. 1 question and most important.

So depending on the answers to the above questions, be honest with yourself and see if the long distance relationship is worth it.
As was said, each relationship is unique as the individuals in it.

To clear something up. No physical relations between us. Waiting till marriage is priority. Thanks everyone. For the encouragement and the reality so clearly put across.

Long distance relationships are geographically undesirable, period. The sooner you have one the more urgent that you make it short distance.
