Ida needs to lose weight!! -
08-22-2008, 09:24 PM
First of all, let me start off by reiterating how much respect I have for the Second Lady of Kenya, Ida Odinga. However, she needs an image overhaul which starts by losing some MAJOR weight.
Honestly, just look at this pic!
Because of her huzi, she's now on the national stage and she needs to know that many women are looking up to her as their role model. I have nothing against big ladies; but most importantly as health precaution, it's not cool to be so overweight! Who else has noticed vile nowadays our PM is rarely by her side? hmm....is trouble brewing in paradise? Now all that her huzi talks about is the new daughter-in-law, Veronica. All the new-found attention on Vero must be really tough for Ida.
This goes to Ida and all other women who have very successful husbands but have let themselves go: if you don't get your look together, don't act surprised when he finally cheats on you. You have all the resources at your disposal; so hit the gym, eat healthy foods and always dress elegantly. You can also ask Michelle Obama for advice.

Big women need some love too . Its not about the physical looks but the character that defines a person. She may appear big compared to Tyra and other wacky models but shes appropriate. So lets not judge her..me i will go out with a big woman any day...i hate those skinny things that look fragile and like their bones will start breaking up.

Hi Ester.
I think you are absolutely right, but i think your approach of this whole issue is totally wrong, it seems like you are trying to pass a message that men will be faithful only to women who are skinny and stay in shape, you are trying to encourage the beauty is only skin deep mentality.
We should focus the weight issue and relate it to health issues. I think she should lose weight infact every woman should be at a healthy weight to avoid diseases associated with overweight like
-Diabetes
-cancer
-c.h.f
-fatty liver diseases
and etc, i love the Jenny craig commercial, the one with Queen Latifah, she encourages women to be a size healthy. Other than that i think its a great funny read. Big up ester!!!!

I don't dispute that she's a warm, wonderful wife and mother. But too many times people underestimate the importance of looking good at all times. I was concerned because she has the ability to influence millions of women around the country. If kenyan women see that the PM's wife herself doesn't pay as much attention to her health and style in general, then how can she be a good example? To be beautiful doesn't mean being anorexic, being physically fit is the most important issue.

Hi barb,
I agree with you; men will not be faithful just based on looks, but it can REALLY make the difference. You know what? I used to think that all women had to do was be sweet and nice individuals to guarantee a lifetime of faithfulness. Let no one lie to you! We have heard this cliche ad nauseam: men are visual creatures. I cannot begin to emphasize the importance of always having your A-game on when it comes to outer beauty.
I don't know what to think of those Jenny Craig commercials; it seems like what's a healthy size today would have been considered obese yesterday. The calibration's off perhaps because more than half of the population is overweight, and these dieting companies don't want us to feel bad about ourselves. IMO and I think most nutritionists would agree with me; Queen Latifah is fat. Period. And I think the media's sending the wrong signals about what's a healthy size and what isn't. If you're fat, you cannot convince the biological processes in your body that everything's ok just because of what u see in the media.

Its very rare to find a woman makes such kind of negative talk about another woman.
Mama IDA is of your mother's age or something close to that, respect your elders just like you would want me to respect your mother.
RAO is happy and cool with Mama IDA's weight, unless you are a lesbian to admire IDA?
Anyway your tiny mind tells you that you know much more about health than Mama IDA. ??????????????????

Isn't Kalonzo Musyoka second in command and thus his wife is the second lady of kenya? Kalonzo's wife is the prettiest and fittest of the three. BTW, is Uhuru Kenyatta married? I have never seen him and his wife.
As for the weight, I agree. In late 90s, Ida was absolutely stunning. After Raila joined kanu and money started rolling in their way, they both started putting on serious weight. The last time I checked, Raila's kitambi was giving Kibaki compe. Now she looks like a balloon and maybe that's why Agwambo keeps ndogo ndogos. My wife gains that much weight and I will seek a divorce.

@ Ester...I wouldn't go as far as saying Queen Latifah is fat. She is big boned, a little on the thick side. There are some people who are naturally bigger in size(could be hereditary) and even anorexia won't make them any skinnier. Look at Missy Elliot for instance, she was bigger back in the days, but she lost quite a lot of weight, yet she can't become a Paris Hilton ever. Also, Kiersten Alley lost weight on Jenny Craig's diet and she's fit as can be yet not skinny.
Depending on bone structure, there's only so much one can do about their weight. Also, the body is smart, hence it'll only let you loose enough weight to keep you healthy, that's why people resot to eating disorders(unhealthy means)to get scary thin.
I agree with Barb, women should stay fit for health reasons primarily. I don't see why women can remain faithful to obese men, yet men can't do same. Unless we(women) start holding men accountable for their actions(e.g cheating) instead of making such excuses for them, we are going nowhere. Some men will cheat regardless, e.g Halle Berry is as skinny(with curves) as they come yet Eric Benne cheated on her mercilessly. Cheating is all in the mind.
Reminds me of a man who was on Dr. Phil recently, complaining that his wife is overweight, wouldn't have sex with her, etc. Dr. Phil just asked him to look in the mirror. He was more overweight than his wife.

Ida needs to stay hefty... infact she should gain a little more weight. How else are her husbands disciples going to know that 'we are eating'? I tell you, her porkier figure is part of ODM's political strategy
