$10 an hour is not much in the states, unless you're in Iowa or one of the more rural areas...Word of advice, hit the books and stay focused on what brought you here and avoid the bs which is hard to do cause you sound young. BTW, unless you're on campus and around educated people, alot of Americanos of whatever race will think you just arrived from the jungle which has it's pluses depending on how adventurous the chile is...use it to your advantage playa. I wish you the best of luck but your expectations of life in the US are off-base.

am coming to the states for studies soon and would like to know in advance because why lie,i would love adventure things have never tried before.
All this questions you are asking will be washed away when you land and you dont have the socio( you'll understand). Then you have no ride and have to keep on calling pple for a ride, then you start looking for a job, then whoever is hosting you asks you for rent (unless its your old mans house), then you start saving for a car (unless you come with $$$,) then you start saving for college fees, then you get stressed up by getting lost on the highways after buying your first car, then you try to learn and undertand the highways, loops, and freeways, then you go to a fastfood and try to order for food and the cashier cant understand you and yet you thought you know english, then you ask for tissue paper in a fastfood while they call them napkins( the girl at the counter starts laughing at you), then everybody asks you where you come from like 50 times in a day,then................... so much bull****.

But dont fear just get urself into that flight and land at the airport and get confused then you'll get used after some time. Nice journey.

I will just give you one advise that is very important, and thats is how you will either conquer this sides or fail

"self esteem", they may speak english more different, born here etc but remember you are capable just like the rest of them. If you were a go getter back home, if you were smooth back home, if you were hard working back home. remember its all the same just different canvass to paint on

and with that am out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

I am curious to hear what this brother will say after six months in the US. But brother its nothing different, in fact its more challenging coz the pressure to make it here is twice as much as it is in kenya.
