I do not have problems with whomever one chooses to date even if it is a dog. I care much when one brings such primitive observations to compare with people from my own country without considering numerous obvious parameters.

Is there anything that a slut who has dated all Kenyan men or women as well as all Akatas has to share anyway?

Muombaji and PipitP, that is the insecurity I am talking about! See I am secure in myself as an African to date an African American and still retain my culture and promote it too! I still wear my African clothes and volunteer teaching swahili. So I wonder who's being laughed at more, me (a person that has still retained her culture) or those that are imitating others. Shidanyingi such name calling is shallow.

Mkosaa,

I will agree with you to some extent. But we have to look at the backgrounds of these peoples. Kenyans did not start behaving that way once they reached here. All these started at home, I am sure there are people at home who are more informed of the happenings in this here country better than some of us here.

Even at home majority of the young Kenyans (who come here) do not listen to African music. I must say personally I enjoy all kinds of music, from Prince Julie to Tupac. As appertains to what's happening in your college, sure you should be very disappointed. On the contrary, where I am we are by far very vibrant and very dominant. So this thing does not happen everywhere.

Let us not confuse some issues, if I want to dress smart it does not mean that I am copying someone. It means that I want to be smart. Most of us never came here with all those African attires.

Do not wonder why "Kenyans suffer from a serious identity crisis" cause this is happening with our youth even at home and everywhere else.

Thanks Mkosa for turning this thread into something I could contribute in. Otherwise, that person up there is just but malreasoning.

Himself

...and here i will ask the question that never seems to get an answer "what is culture?"...and what do u mean promoting culture by dressing and teaching swahili?...shouldn't u be teaching mother-tongue?....granted we all have some insecurities..but don't put it to lose of culture on the kenyan mens part..and say that that makes them weak and cowardly...

culture is dynamic not static..and if one chooses to dress and act american ...this is adaptation to fit into the wider culture...

if i wear jeans and speak english only and am kenyan does that make me less kenyan??...

hmmmmmmmm

Mkosa Kabila, I was at the African Nite that your school hosted. I found about it by accident, and I would have participated had I been asked. I agree with you many Kenyans here do not identify with Kenyan and African culture. I had the same experience during an International Festival I tried to organise at my school. I would not say that it is only jamaas who are faced with this conflict.
