HOMOSEXUALITY IN AFRICA -
04-03-2002, 12:43 PM
I'll be the first to admit that I have serious issues with male homosexuality, and that like many men, have always had a soft spot for female homosexuality.
There is something in me that is completely repulsed by the thought of two men together, and on many occasions in the past, I have been driven to physically abuse and torment those boys(in high school), who were known to be gay.
A lot of my disgust (and previous actions) stem from an incident that occured when I was in Form One; a school prefect and dormitory head (sixth former), attempted to molest me and tried to bribe me in order to do it.
I was scared, emotionally shattered and couldn't possibly comprehend, yet alone process what the older boy had wanted from me.
Maybe the incident sowed the seeds for my extreme homophobia.
Personally, I hate them; and as much as I know that my actions were wrong and that I cannot condemn a whole section of society based on the actions of one long ago incident, I cannot seem to change. It has proved impossible.
Is it a sexual thing? Is it love? Do 'straight' women feel the same disgust at the thought of two women together.....?

pole solo. that must have been a traumatizing experience.lakini don't judge all peeps by one bad experience.
i think gays will answer to God. i don't judge them as good or bad. i just take them as people with issues.

Unlike you Solomatic,
I have reached an equilibrium that serves me well:
To each his own.
I remember in my University days, it was considered hip to belong to the BILAGA (bisexual-lesbian-gay) group, and to have openly gay friends. I had attached a lot of misguided notions to the whole gay thing, under the impression that gays were somehow this new breed of 'special' people struggling against the larger system, and all that made me heady.
But through time, I grew up and realised that gays are just people like us; they live in dirty houses, drive shi tty cars, mix the whites and coloreds when they do the laundry and have lousy lives, just like the rest of humanity.
Errant behaviour? Methinks not.
Errant behaviour like somebody said yesterday, is urinating on your lover.

And what exactly, pray tell, were you hoping to achieve by abusing others who were known to be gay. Just because you had a negative expirience? Dont get me wrong, I am very heterosexual, but I absolutely hate people like you who are close minded....try reading up on the issue. Some gay people were born with both the male and female genitalia (hermaphrodites). Their sex was decided for them in the hospital when one of the genitals is cut off, making them physically a boy or a girl, while hormonally or emotionally, they are actually the opposite gender.
Oppose the act, dont hate the person!!!!

P.S.
I think 90% of African humanity has suffered molestation at some point. if not 90% of all humanity.
It's shocking what human beings will do to each other.
*The thought of two women togther does not excite me.

Xuxa,
You aren't the sharpest tool in the shed, are you?
I'm not here to cause a fight so please rest.
I made a statement and backed it up with reasons explaining ***WHY*** I behave the way I do. And then went on to say the way I behave ***IS WRONG***.
Read properly and think before you type.
Let's have a mature discussion.

Solo...
Just to comment on your 1st form experience...Pole sana dude...pole sana.
However, the militant attitude you have taken against gays be it for that reason or your general dislike is something that I view as prejudicial and at the end of the day, they are human beings.
Your thoughts and statements above show me that for whatever you as an individual hate, you may not have the ability to be tolerant about. Don't hate the player if you have to...Hate the game....But remember, you don't have to subscribe to the sports channel if you don't want anything to do with the game....Life will go on.

Isso, Muombaji:
Thanks but I actually wasn't looking for a 'sorry'.
And yes, yes, the sports channel, don't judge etc, etc.
I just thought we'd talk about this topic and see if we could take it somewhere without the usual drama.
I happen to be homophobic and that's not going to change. I don't beat up gay people anymore and all that stuff happened in High school when i was young and immature.
Just like I don't like Bafana Bafana, i don't like gay people. Personal dislike.
Do I know good gay people/ Sure!!! Lot's of them.
I'm just trying to take this damn topic somewhere intellectual...............................

I do not have a problem with gay men! None whatsoever! Lakini calling other pple, 'indiferrent', 'queer' or 'fags'...aiii that is first class ignorance!
Now...some of us straight people may say that being gay is a choice. It's not. It's a natural part of them. People should not pin labels on gay people...this is just a part of who they are!. I try to be open minded and have all kind of friends as much as I can! But one thing I will say, a gay person denying their feelings...Hhhmmm I think that would make them very unhappy in the long run.
