What is your advice on financial matters to some of us who are looking to save, invest or utilize our earnings to the maximum?
I guess most people here are students and not professionals, but besides that, I would appreciate any advice that you have.
I brought this up after talking to somebody, who told me he had been sending some fixed amount of money every month to his account back home for several years now and the figure is quite amazing if you convert to Kshs. Somebody else told me about some house projects that you could pay deposits on and they would later become yours after some sort of membership (it really works because some of his friends have total ownership of the houses they started on). This does not cost much because of exchange rates.
I know another group of kenyans who contribute a certain amount of money everytime and give it to one person to do whatever he/she wants. It sounds like women back home do, but if you know people you can trust with money, you will be surprised by how much money you can lay your hands on.
What about investing? I don't know much about it nor do I have anything to invest any time soon, but I have always wanted to know about it.
I always thought I had done stuff for myself until I thought about this and where I come from and I can't help thinking that we may be in the same country, in the same school, or same state but I may not know what I am doing. To some of us, and those who want to return, this is not our home, and even to those who have found home, a little advice won't hurt.
I know some of you have good ideas about financial responsibility that you could share with us.
