Several non-parliamentary parties are holding unity talks geared towards coming up with single parliamentary and civic candidates.
The group, under the umbrella of the Forum for Development of Multi party Democracy, brings together 58 registered political parties not represented in Parliament, said chairman David Wakahu.
The forum would also offer free nominations to candidates whose member parties are represented in the umbrella, Mr Wakahu told journalists yesterday at the Kenya Institute of Education (KIE) Nairobi.
Said Mr Wakahu: “We promise to provide Kenyans with the democratic space to participate in the coming General Election by issuing nomination certificates to marginalised groups and other candidates who may be discriminated against by the mainstream political parties and ensuring that they are not locked out of the contest by the exorbitant fees charged by other parties.”
